Abbott Family History

General history and top news during 2001

Dina Abbott's maiden name is unknown. She was married to John Abbott but deserted the family only to resurface as Madam Mergeron 12 years later. Dina had an extramarital affair with Brent Davis which resulted with the birth of a baby girl, Ashley. As of 2004, John Abbott does not know Ashley is not his biological daughter.

Dina returned to Genoa City hoping to pick up where she left off with John who ended up proposing marriage. The wedding never happened and Dina moved back to Paris.

Brent Davis is the biological father of Ashley Abbott. When Brent came back into Dina's (Ashley's mother) life, Ashley had no idea Brent was her biological father. Ashley flipped out when she finally found out and wandered off in a daze. Her purse stolen, Ashley was picked up by a truck driver and couldn't recall what Brent had told her. Ending up at a diner, Ashley was offered a job and a place to stay. Brent was so upset about Ashley he took a cruise with Katherine Chancellor. When he returned Brent faced Dina, who was furious he told Ashley the truth. She pulled a gun intending to shoot Brent but Katherine took the bullet instead. Brent passed away of a liver ailment.

John Abbott married Jill Foster but they later divorced. John married Jessica Blair after she admitted she was dying of AIDS. John ended his marriage to Jessica so she could reunite with her ex-husband and daughter as a family. Then, John remarried Jill but they later divorced.

Jill didn't know that John had a vasectomy while he was married to her. Jill was determined to get pregnant by him anyway. John demanded she terminate the pregnancy, but she refused. Instead, Jill drew made a contract relieving John of all emotional and financial responsibilities. However, the document was not legally binding.

Jill Foster Abbott married Rex Romalotti after her marriage to John failed but Katherine Chancellor had the marriage declared invalid. Jill remarried John, they had a child, Billy, but the marriage ended again in divorce.

Fed up, John sought the divorce, so Jill decided to fake depression. She saw a psychiatrist who pronounced her suicidal. Determined to call her bluff, Katherine suggested they should threaten her with shock treatment. When Jill heard she jumped out of bed and left the house.

Jessica Blair was married John Abbott, but the marriage was dissolved so she could reunite with her ex-husband and daughter, Christine, as a family.

Jessica and Christine's song was "You and Me Against the World," which Christine sang with her on Jessica's deathbed. Jessica died due to complications from AIDS.

Jack Abbott married Patty Williams. When she found out Jack was having an affair she divorced him. Jack married Lindsey Wells, who was blackmailing him with explicit photos of Jill Abbott and him. After they married, she gave up the negatives, only to learn the wedding was a fake. Jack married Nikki Newman but the marriage failed because Nikki was a booze and lost their baby. Jack married Luan Violein, his long lost love from Vietnam, but she died, leaving Jack to move onto Diane Jenkins who dumped him for Victor Newman who dumped her for Nikki.

Patty Williams married Jack Abbott when she was only 18 but when she found out Jack was having an affair with Diane Jenkins, (before Diane returned to Genoa City) they divorced.

Recovering from the loss of her child, Patty told Jack she was ready to have a baby. But when she overheard Jack making an appointment to have a vasectomy and telling Jill he only married Patty to get the presidency of Jabot as a wedding gift from his father, Patty flipped, pulled a gun and shot Jack three times.

Patty moved to Washington D.C. to be near her brother Steve. Lindsey was married to Jack Abbott.

Lindsey Wells
didn't know that Jack only proposed and married her to get her to turn over the incriminating photos of him and Jill. As soon as she turned the photos over, he declared the marriage invalid. Lindsey informed Jack there were more copies of the photos.

Lindsey left Genoa City for parts unknown.

Luan "Mai Yun" Volien
worked at a restaurant called "The Saigon Shack," where she was shot in an attempted hold up. Luan suffered from a life threatening disease and later passed away. Married Jack Abbott, her long lost love.

Billy Abbott is the youngest Abbott and son of Jill and John Abbott. Billy was conceived one day before John got a vasectomy.

Keemo Volien is the son of Luan and Jack Abbott. He was found in the jungles of Vietnam by Christine and Paul Williams who found Keemo within a week. Keemo's mother had searched four years without success. Keemo planned a romantic rendezvous with Mari Jo Mason, but at the last minute she sent a prostitute to meet with Keemo in her place. After his mother, Luan, passed away, Keemo left Genoa City with his sister Mai.

Ashley Abbott married Dr. Steven Lassiter who was killed by the son of one of his patients. Traumatized after having an abortion. Ashley was committed to a mental hospital when she was found wandering the streets of New York. Ashley moved on to marry Victor Newman after Brad Carlton proposed to her. Like most Genoa City residents they divorced when, on his deathbed, Victor decided he was meant to be with Nikki Newman. Ashley moved on to marry Cole Howard, but divorced him when the stress of the loss of Cole and Victoria's child put a strain on the marriage.

Alex 'Blade' Bladeson married Ashley Abbott. Prior to the marriage, Blade witnessed his brother Rick's drowning but ignored his cries for help. Rick resurfaced alive, and while Ashley and Blade were vacationing in St. Thomas, he switched places with Blade. In the end, the real Blade was killed in a car-train accident. Devastated, Ashley went to Paris to find herself.

Cole Howard was married to Victoria Newman but they later divorced. Cole moved on to marry Ashley Abbott but that marriage also ended in divorce. Victor Newman wrote Cole into his will to inherit half of his estate. After two failed marriages, Cole left Genoa City to start a new life and to pursue his writing career.

Traci Ann Abbott Romalotti Carlton Connelly married Danny Romalotti, but they divorced. Traci moved on to marry Brad Carlton and share a daughter, Colleen. Traci moved to California to attend graduate school at Stanford. When she returned, Traci discovered that Brad and Ashley had become close. As time went on Traci became sweet on Steve Connelly, her publisher, and moved to New York to be with him and divorced Brad. At one time, Traci was the President of Danny Romalotti's fan club, and battled with Lauren Fenmore for his love. In order to compete, Traci began taking diet pills, became addicted, and one day crashed her car and was arrested. She went into convulsions and sustained serious heart damage.

Brad Carlton married Lisa Mansfield when she was 16 but her father had it annulled. Brad moved on to marry Traci Abbott who later divorced Brad when she became interested in Tim Sullivan during Brad's absence. Traci and Brad remarried, but their marriage ended in divorce. See also: Carlton Family

Lisa Mansfield
kidnapped Brad and held him captive in a cage at a ski lodge. After following Lisa back to the lodge and discovering Brad, Lauren Fenmore was also locked in the cage. Lisa turned on the gas and left them for dead until Jack Abbott rescued them.

Danny Romalotti married Traci Abbott but the marriage ended in divorce. Danny moved on to marry Christine 'Cricket' Blair. While Danny was living in New York and working on Broadway their marriage began to crumble and they eventually divorced. Danny married Phyllis Summers, the mother of his child, Danny Jr., but realized he still loved Chris so he and Phyllis divorced. Danny remarried Phyllis when he couldn't have Christine, but they divorced when it was revealed that Danny was not Danny Jr's biological father after all. Danny left Genoa City with his son for parts unknown.

Takeover Fails Miserably

(Newman Enterprises) -- From the outset, the Genoa City News projected Jack Abbott's takeover of Newman Enterprises would fail. Abbott never had the support needed to oust Victor Newman on any permanent level and made a major blunder when he involved Brad Carlton in the deal. Now that Carlton has discovered Abbott stabbed him in the back and Victor Newman has told Abbott if he wants Jaw Bow Cosmetics he'll have to buy it, the takeover is for all intents and purposes a failure. The only remaining questions are; will Abbott take Victor Newman's offer and land on his feet?

8/09/99
Highway Robbery?
(Newman Enterprises) -- Jack Abbott was flipping out when he learned business tycoon Victor Newman had pulled an ace out of his sleeve in the form of a counter-proposal to Abbott's offer to resign as CEO and forfeit his severance package (the golden parachute) in an even exchange for Jaw Bow Cosmetics. Newman changed the deal by informing Abbott if he wants Jaw Bow he'll have to buy it and since the Rash & Sassy line was added on after Newman obtained Jaw Bow it would not be part of the deal. "This is highway robbery!" Abbott bellowed apparently forgetting what he did to Newman.

Abbott went on to say he thinks Newman is bluffing but the great man indicated he's willing to spend his last dollar to defend his position in a long, drawn-out court battle. While not telling Newman, Abbott informed sister Ashley Howard he intends to call the bluff. In a related development, Brad Carlton officially joined the Newman team. Not a smart move on Newman's part since Carlton is suspected to hold major shares in Newman Enterprises when Howard recently asked him to sell some of her stock to purchase that mysterious painting thought to be a fake which hangs in the Abbott house. It's thought Carlton purchased the stock himself. The question remains however; why doesn't Newman own 51% of his own company?

Abbott Given One Week!
(Genoa City) -- Tired of playing Jack Abbott's power game and with knowledge Abbott is having a hard time coming up with the cash to purchase Jaw Bow Cosmetics, former Newman Enterprises CEO Victor Newman has informed Abbott he has one week to come up with the money or the deal is off. Abbott is expected to come up with the money at the last moment but if that doesn't happen, Newman vows a long, drawn out court battle to obtain control of Newman Enterprises.

Rich Old Maid Offers Help!
(Genoa City) -- Saying she's rich now and wisely invested the money Jill Abbott gave her to leave town, Abbott household guest and former maid Pain-Me Johnson offered Jack Abbott her financial support. Floundering Newman Enterprises CEO Jack Abbott is seeking funds to purchase Jaw Bow Cosmetics so the company will return to its rightful owner, John "Yawn" Abbott. As it happened, Jill Abbott was surprised to see the old maid back in town and reminded Pain-Me she was well paid to leave town. Johnson fired back the deal was she would leave while Jill pursued John Abbott. Since the pursuit is over, Johnson claims she is no longer obligated to live up to terms of the agreement and added "this is my home!"

September 1999

Deal With The Devil!
(Newman Enterprises) -- A major settlement agreement is expected soon between the powerful, ruthless Victor Newman and Jack Abbott. Specific details are not known at this time but Newman Enterprises insiders tell the Genoa City News Jack Abbott will step down as CEO and out of the company for good. In exchange, Newman will return Jabot Cosmetics to its original owner, John 'Yawn' Abbott. Jabot president since 1982 when given the company as a wedding gift from his father, Jack Abbott reportedly will get the remainder of the money he needed for the purchase from Jill Abbott who holds twenty-percent of Jabot stock. When the deal is finalized, Jack Abbott is expected to announce details of the settlement during a family gathering at the Lodge Restaurant.

It's A Done Deal!
(Newman Enterprises) -- After much haggling and insult hurling, the great Victor Newman and Jack Abbott have worked out a deal allowing the return of Jaw Bow Cosmetics to the Abbott family. While Abbott did not have all the money needed, Newman agreed to float a loan for the balance so he could regain full control of Newman Enterprises and be rid of Jack Abbott once and for all. All Abbott has to do is make the payments!

Jack Abbott Deposits Sperm
"I did it because I really want a child one of these days. The right woman has to be out there somewhere for me. With the cancer scare and all I figured it was the smart thing to do" Jaw Bow executive Jack Abbott told the Genoa City News after it was learned Abbott has deposited a sample of his sperm into the local sperm bank. Earlier this week it was learned a lump had been found on one of Abbott's testicles which according to Abbott, was medically declared benign. Not by accident, Abbott's sperm is being held at the same sperm bank where Victor Newman's sperm is said to be on deposit after having been ripped off from Diane Jenkins residence. "All sperm is perfectly safe with us. Mixed up sperm? No - it can't happen here." a sperm bank spokesperson said.

Balloon Payment Due!
As Jack Abbott prepared to pour the champagne in celebration of the Glow line expansion, 20% stock owner Jill Abbott reminded Jabot board members what they all should have known. The May balloon payment is due soon! Jack Abbott told the members not to worry. He made a deal with the chief loan officer at the bank. If there is a payment problem they'll simply extend the loan.

The loan officer was seen later in Abbott's office telling how he flew all the way to Genoa City to say he had hoped Jabot didn't expand the Glow line. When Abbott said it's a done deal the officer stated "You did? I was afraid of that. We've got big trouble!"

May 2000

Can They Feed The Piggy?
(Genoa City) -- In the dark for months about the company he built from the ground up, Jabot Cosmetics founder John Abbott confronted CEO and son Jack Abbott on Thursday about why he wasn't told the company is having problems coming up with a balloon loan payment. The younger Abbott told his father the loan was sold to another loan company and the new lender agreed to extend the loan so there isn't a problem. The elder Abbott didn't think it was the least bit strange that a loan could be sold without prior notification and promptly announced his departure for New York City where he would participate in a meeting about the Jabot ad campaign. Jack Abbott didn't think it odd the chairman of a company would involve himself in such a meaningless task usually delegated to advertising and marketing executives.

Meantime, after learning from Diane Jenkins that Newman Enterprises CEO, Victor Newman, has been using her, chief Jabot skunk oil sniffer and stockholder, Ashley Abbott, reported to brother Jack, "We have been tricked. Horribly tricked and it's all my fault." However, Ms. Abbott reportedly has a contingency plan which involves Nikki Newman and Brad Carlton both of whom Abbott has summoned to Jabot for an urgent strategy meeting. It's expected Carlton and Newman will be asked to join the Jabot team. Between then, Carlton and Newman are said to have some $70 million dollars which, if a deal can be reached, will assure Jabot Cosmetics stays out of the hands of Victor Newman.

Jill Abbott Blasts Jabot Board Member!
(Jabot Cosmetics) -- Prior to the start of her first Jabot board meeting since shelling out $35-billion to save the company from disaster, newest board member Nikki Newman was observed swapping spit with associate member Brad Carlton here Thursday by 20% share owner, Jill Abbott. "We keep kissing on hold until after board meetings", Abbott snarled. "Seems you came a long way in this company on your back", Newman fired back. Not to be outdone, Abbott hissed, "You got zero business experience as a stripper." As the bickering continued, Wall Street investors were wondering why some board members have not been attending Jabot board meetings. Chairman of the Board, John Abbott, has been noticeably absent during Jabot's troubled times.

Abbott's Reach Agreement To Save Jabot!
(Genoa City) -- It took lots of haggling and some back biting but Jack, Ashley and Jill Abbott have apparently reached an agreement whereby Nikki Newman and former Newman Enterprises executive Brad Carlton, will join forces to save Jabot Cosmetics from falling into the grubby hands of Newman Enterprises CEO, Victor Newman. "I didn't like the idea of Golden Boy being able to tell me what to do", Jack Abbott told the Genoa City News after the deal was done and likewise, Brad Carlton didn't want Jack "watching my every move."

The deal almost didn't happen at all until Nikki Newman told Jack that if he didn't go along to get along he would forfeit and lose Jabot again. Jill and Ashley Abbott convinced Carlton to go along by reminding him he owes the Abbott family. If it had not been for John Abbott taking Carlton on as a hedge clipper and pool boy years ago, Carlton might not be where he is today.

Almost instantly, Jabot made the balloon loan payment using the some $70-million dollars kicked in by Newman and Carlton.

"I just don't understand. Where could they have gotten the money", a shaky sounding Victor Newman commented when reached by telephone. It would be nice to be a fly on the wall when Newman learns his wife was partly responsible for saving Jabot.

ABBOTT WILL DUMP CARLTON!
(Jabot Cosmetics) -- In an attempt to avoid any appearance of wrongdoing, Jabot Cosmetics chief operating officer Jack Abbott has announced his intention to get rid of business collaborator Brad Carlton. "So what if golden boy put up thirty-five million to save my father's company? He's stabbed me in the back plenty of times. Now it's my turn." Abbott told the Genoa City News. "The man is on the Black Knight's hit list and I want him as far away from me as possible."

In a related development, 20% Jabot stock owner Jill Abbott made a plea to "stop the bleeding" during a meeting with the powerful Victor Newman. Abbott learned that Newman would more than likely not take legal action directly against Jabot if Carlton were to suddenly disappear.

COSMETICS EXECUTIVE SAYS NO OFFICE SEX!
(Jabot Cosmetics) -- In a rare move, Jabot Cosmetics Chief Operating Officer Jack Abbott has turned down an offer to have sex in his office.

"It happened right in there late last night," Steve Ho, a Jabot janitor, told the Genoa City News. "I'm used to seeing and hearing various executives on this floor humping away and thought Mr. Abbott would jump on that woman's bones when she began purring but he didn't. It's amazing!", Ho said.

The woman in question was Jabot's newest employee, Phyllis Summers. On the job for less than 30-days, Summers was dressed in a gawd-awful snake skin looking outfit. With one arm exposed, Summers discussed the Jabot web site briefly and then invited her employer out for a drink. Abbott declined, making it clear their relationship is strictly on a business level but that didn't stop Summers.

"You don't know what you're missing?", Summer whispered in Abbott's ear as if to imply that if he gave the go ahead she'd do the horizontal hoochie with him right then and there. Abbott knew alright but unlike the last time he and Summers humped in his office, Abbott showed a sign of some dignity and passed.

August 2000

WILL JABOT BOARD CONSIDER ABBOTT OUSTER?
(Jabot Cosmetics) -- Chief Operating Officer Jack Abbott indicated Friday he may seek to have his sister, Ashley Abbott, removed from the day to day business decisions based on what appears to be Ms. Abbott's deteriorating mental stability.

"Ashley is best when she's working in the lab", Abbott said adding he may seek a board of directors vote to make it happen.

September 2000

Money Is Tight!
Anxious to keep the dollar bills rolling into her bank account, Webmaster Phyllis Summers hinted Tuesday she'd like to continue working for Jabot Cosmetics.

"My agent already has other jobs lined up for me but I'm going to wait a bit before looking at them," Summers said.

"Money is tight," Jabot executive Jack Abbott told Summers but acknowledged the work Summers did this summer on the Glow by Jabot website helped sales skyrocket. Accordingly, Abbott indicated he would bring the matter of Summers' continued employment before the board of directors.

October 2000

Best Man for the Job?
"I’ve got his number. He can’t fool me. He’s not being sincere with my sister," an angry Jabot Cosmetics CEO, Jack Abbott, ranted Friday leading some to wonder at first what poor sap was taking the brunt of Abbott's fury. A perfume distributor? A manufacturer? An advertising agency?

As it turned out, Abbott was venting frustration about a personal matter within the confines of a business office!

Business associate Brad Carlton plans to marry Abbott's sister, Ashley, but as far as Abbott is concerned, Carlton will never be anything more than a hedge clipper.

Adding insult to injury, Abbott was stunned when Carlton asked if Abbott would be the best man at the wedding. Claiming he's asking because it's what his bride to be wants, the real reason is Carlton has no male friends.

Infuriated at the mere thought of standing next to Carlton in front of God, Abbott said he would think about it.

Jack Abbott - Best Man!
Jabot Executive, Jack Abbott has agreed to be the best man at business associate Brad Carlton's wedding. Carlton plans to marry Abbott's sister, Ashley, during a ceremony scheduled for November 10. With no male friends in Genoa City, Carlton claims to have asked his nemesis to be best man to appease the desire of his bride to be.

In a related development, Ashley Abbott has requested, and Olivia Winters has agreed, to be the matron of honor. Winters reportedly will extend an invitation to her sister's former husband, Neil Winters.

Siting a conflict of interest, the soon to be Mrs. Brad Carlton is not expected if invite her sister, Traci Abbott Connelly. Connelly was once married to Carlton and the two share a daughter, Colleen.

December 2000

Webmaster Spy!
Unlike Newman Enterprises chief Victor Newman who can just walk into and browse around Jabot whenever he feels like it, Jabot Cosmetics CEO Jack Abbott plans to use his personal relationship with Newman's webmaster, Phyllis Summers, to infiltrate Newman Enterprises.

With some persuading from Jabot co-owner Jill Abbott, Mr. Abbott seems to be leaning toward using Ms. Summers as a "spy" inside enemy territory.

Experienced detractors know it's not smart to get on Ms. Summer's bad side. Those who do have a funny way of dying mysteriously in motel fires or nearly being killed by speeding cars.

Abbott's prime interest seems to revolve around how Rash & Sassy, a Newman Enterprises cosmetics company, is managing Christmas sales on its website. As usual, both companies wait until a particular holiday is almost over before concentrating on specific ad campaigns.

WARNING ISSUED
Jabot Cosmetics CEO, Jack Abbott issued another empty warning to Newman Enterprises giant, Victor Newman, here Tuesday.

"I'm tired of his insinuating himself into her [Carlton's] life and I want Newman to stay away from my sister," Abbott snarled.

"He'll never learn he cannot win with me as his opponent," an unfazed Newman said.

January 2001

Have a Heart!
Seven years ago when Jack and Nikki Abbott's baby died at birth the sorrowful couple made a decision to donate the baby's organs so that others might live.

Soon after, Mrs. Suzanne Cook showed up at Abbott's office with her young son who was alive thanks to the heart he had received from the deceased baby.

Genoa City News readers were livid because donors and recipients are almost never revealed. Seeing his baby's heart beating in the body of another child gave Abbott the comfort he needed at the time to move on with his life.

On Tuesday, seven years later to the day, Mrs. Cook and her son, John, met Abbott again at the Newman ranch.

On Monday, after being told by Jill Abbott he'd never be a father, Jack Abbott flashed back in Mrs. Nikki Newman's presence. Abbott mumbled how it had been seven years since the death of their son which prompted Mrs. Newman to do something special which might give her former husband some much needed peace of mind.

Newman quickly arranged to have Mrs. Cook show up at the Newman ranch with her son within moments after she and Abbott had finished eating a butchered lamb.

While it was a tearful reunion Jack Abbott and Nikki Newman unlikely learned anything from it. Within days the death of their baby will have been forgotten as the two return to their backbiting, spiteful ways.

Big Ideas Brewing at Jabot!
Jabot Cosmetics company executives met here Thursday to discuss the feasibility of bringing a wide range of teen related products to the market place.

Unlike the company's current method of selling cosmetics via the Internet, Jabot CEO Jack Abbott put the kibosh on any attempt to redesign the company's Glow by Jabot web site due to the high costs of running the site.

Among new ideas discussed, a boutique located in the Jabot lobby where Glow products would be sold exclusively by the Jabot teenagers known as Glow Worms.

Jabot founder John Abbott suggested a line of clothing aimed at teenagers. The garments, possibly designed by department store mogul Lauren Fenmore, would be sold through premium independent retailers and not at the company's office lobby store.

Details of prices and the stores through which the clothing will be sold were not immediately available.

Payback Time?
It what may be the largest amount of swill ever to spew from his lips, Jabot Cosmetics CEO Jack Abbott leveled a threat Thursday aimed at twenty-percent company shareholder Jill Abbott.

As "payback" for Mrs. Abbott's interference in his relationship with Newman Enterprises Webmaster, Phyllis Summers, Abbott told Mrs. Abbott he knows about her love affair with "Cyberstud" Sean Bridges. Mr. Abbott added he observed Bridges, who dropped out of MIT to take up a career in webmastering, and his former mother-in-law, "swapping spit" and that he wants her "to stay away from Mackenzie Browning."

Mr. Abbott made it clear that if his instructions are not followed and if Mrs. Abbott does anything to break up Jabot Glow Worms Billy Abbott and Mackenzie Browning, "I’ll play my Sean card."

Confused as to what purpose anything the man, who lost his father's company twice to the competition, was saying would serve, Mrs. Abbott stated she isn't hiding anything from Bridges and gave her approval to Browning's desire to become a Glow Worm.

"Remember Phyllis and Sean have a history. I’m in a position to control her reaction to hearing about you and Sean. If you mess with Mac I’ll step back and let Phyllis be her creative self. We both know how dangerous that can be," Mr. Abbott snorted.

Mrs. Abbott seemed genuinely concerned at the thought of the havoc Summers can wreak but if she has nothing to hide, Jill Abbott should have let the spewing of her son's brother go in one ear and out the other.

July 2001

Wedding Bells?
Jabot Cosmetics CEO, Jack Abbott and Newman Enterprises employee, Phyllis Summers met together for dinner here Tuesday inside a local hotel room.

After an elaborate meal, including such delicacies as cream of cucumber soup, the couple discussed family. Ms. Summers criticized her mother as the "Ice Queen" and implied her father lets the queen pull him around by the ring in his nose. Summers would not say if she has any brothers or sisters.

As the evening drew to a close, Abbott popped the question. Would Summers marry him? The woman of Abbott's dreams had no immediate reply but did have a look of shock on her face.

Best man enigma
by Brent Kellogg

The enigma affecting many of the elitist men in Genoa City has struck again. What to do when you're getting married and you don't have any male friends you can ask to be your best man.

Faced with the problem recently, Ryan McNeil was so desperate for a male friend he had to ask business associate Neil Winters to play the part.

Unlike Winters and McNeil who claim to have had a close bond, Brad Carlton recently found himself to be so wretched he had to ask nemesis Jack Abbott to be best man at his wedding. Now that the tables are turned, Carlton has no apparent interest in returning the favor and Abbott won't be asking.

Fully aware he has no male friends, Abbott has hinted he will ask younger brother Billy Abbott to be the best man on his as yet unannounced wedding day.

His bride to be in a similar situation, Phyllis Summers was so desperate for a matron of dishonor she dug down to the bottom of the barrel and found Ashley Abbott who, at one time couldn't stand Summers, has agreed to be the dowager.

It's a sad commentary on the human condition when persons of such stature, as many in Genoa City claim to be, are forced to ask their enemies to be best men and women at their weddings.

What goes around, comes around
by Brent Kellogg

It wasn't by accident Friday that Diane Jenkins told Michael Baldwin she should never let Jack Abbott go. In 1992, Jenkins was one of Jabot Cosmetic's leading models and wormed her way into Abbott's bed on the night before he was to be married to Patty Williams.

Abbott's co-workers threw a party for him that day and after drinking too much Abbott went to bed with Jenkins. He would have never made it to the wedding if Ashley Abbott had found him. Unfortunately, she found Jenkins too - in his bed!

Jenkins used that night to her advantage. She warned Abbott that unless he made her Jabot's top model she would expose their tryst to the new bride. Abbott capitulated.

The wedding went off with a hitch but within months, Patty was begging for a home of her own. Jack has always had a thing about living under his father's roof. Patty also wanted kids but Jack threatened to get a vasectomy.

While 1993 rolled around, Jack was bedding Diane on the desk in his office like clockwork. He didn't know that Patty had become pregnant against his will. He also didn't know that Jill Abbott had bugged his office and knew what he and Diane were doing. Jill arranged to have Patty stop by Jack's office one day and what she saw wasn't a pretty sight. Diane was stripping! Patty raced down the hall, tripped over a potted plant and that was the end of her baby.

Almost a year to the day, Patty told Jack she wanted his baby. Jack said no and made an appointment to get a vasectomy. Patty also heard Jack telling Jill he had only married Patty to get his hands on his father's wedding present: the presidency of Jabot.

Patty was enraged! She got a gun and shot Jack three times! In the end, Patty was the strong one. She divorced Jack and left Genoa City. Jack turned to Diane but during the year she had gone and married Andy Richards.

Now, it appears that what goes around is coming around again for Jack Abbott.
