Alex Perez History

Note: There isn't much history on Perez. Her stay in Genoa City was short and generally uneventful.

Say good-bye and good riddance

by Doris Hill

The word went out throughout the GCN newsroom. Who wants to write about the stupid good-bye displayed Thursday by attorney Alex Perez?

There was not a single volunteer. Some reporters outright refused. I couldn't understand it. Didn't anyone find this African safari holdover fascinating? Wasn't that thoughtful good-bye reason to break out the crying towels?

It reminded me of the time I almost married a man on the same night he picked me up at a bar. We came to our senses when the drugs wore off but I continued seeing Johnny until the day he went deep sea fishing and was eaten by a whale. Because we had been living together at his apartment there was no reason for me to move. I looked around for somebody to share the rent, picked out a woman I had never met and then stiffed her by announcing my departure from the city.

I had met members of Johnny's family once or twice so it was imperative they be informed of my plan to leave. I read somewhere it was common courtesy. Funny thing, when I called asking them to stop what they were doing and rush over to my apartment, none of them had the time. They said a good-bye over the phone was good enough.

I dunno, maybe it makes a difference where one is in the food chain. When Alex Perez summoned the Winters family together they flocked to her apartment.

In a way it made sense for Dr. Olivia Winters to show up. She's had a lot of pent up hated for Perez ever since her former husband took up with the woman. Behind that squinty-eyed look of concern Winters had to have been saying to herself, "Good you bitch. Get out of town and stay out."

Why little Nate Hastings had to be there can only be attributed to his thinking Perez was going to read him a bedtime story. The kid barely knew Perez and couldn't have been looking forward to having another step-mother.

PainMe Johnson's appearance at the farewell was totally mind boggling. Of all the people she knew Perez least. There was no reason for Johnson to have dropped whatever she does to hoof it across town for a bye-bye pity party.

Neil Winters said it best when he told Perez to have a good life and then split for more mindless dialog with Victoria Newman about who's blaming who for his brother's death. And just why is Newman so involved in this mess? Didn't she read that memo her daddy put out years ago? It read that there will be no discussion of personal business on company time. Newman should have told Winters long ago she didn't want to hear about his personal problems, gave him a quarter and told him to call somebody who gives a damn.

Perez may be gone but this mindless story is far from over.

Two losers agree on one winner

by Brent Kellogg

After agonizing for weeks over who should be blamed for the death of local photographer Malcolm Winters it appears a compromise has been reached.

Suspected of having his half-brother killed off, Neil Winters manipulated the woman he had fallen in love with and his brother's fiancée into believing that it was she who should accept blame.

Exhausted from all the rehashing, attorney Alex Perez contemplated Winter's theory that her sweetheart had wanted to smack her for having feelings for his brother. But rather than smacking a woman Malcolm Winters popped his brother on the jaw that fateful African night before disappearing into the jungle never to be seen again.

It took a few moments for Perez to accept what she called "garbage." But when Winters explained having discussed the issue with Victoria Newman over and over and that Newman agreed that if a finger needed to be pointed at someone Perez was it, the attorney took the bait hook, line and sinker!

Relieved that she could proudly wear the badge of blame, Perez understood that no amount of rehash would bring the alleged dead man back.

Buttering up his second victim, Winters convinced Perez it won't be easy putting the past behind them and moving on but anything else would result in their destruction. To that end Winters suggested they stop feeling guilty.

The feuding, fussing and general chaos over a molehill that turned into a mountain complete, Perez is expected to pack her bags and get her ass out of town. Sticking around would only keep the bad memories alive in a city riddled with people feeling sorry for themselves.

Do-Nothing Attorney Praised!
For months, new staff attorney Alex Perez has been working at Newman Enterprises on a very sketchy HMO case. She has accomplished very little. Reporting directly to Newman yes man and chief brown-noser, Neil Winters, Perez has successfully wormed her way into Winter's life and that of Winters half-wit brother, Malcolm. Both men hope to be the first into her panties.

The love triangle aside, Perez was praised this week by the great Victor Newman for doing a great job. "You're a damn good lawyer," Newman patronized even though Perez snubbed the man by ignoring his obvious presence. "I didn't realize you were here," Perez said apologizing for her temporary blindness. "You two are working well together. I'm very pleased with your work," Newman spewed and then left Perez and Winters alone to ponder their sexual needs.

Her eyes squinting, Winters appeared eager to blow the whistle on Dr. Kimbrough. A despicable act, it is not uncommon. There are doctors who get a rush from ratting out other physicians.

He Ain't Heavy, He's My 'Bro
Newman Enterprises top yes man, Neil Winters cleared the air Wednesday when he made an eleventh hour decision not to sexually pursue co-worker Alex Perez.

Like his brother Malcolm, Winters had fallen in love with Perez but apparently doesn't want to go through another battle with his brother over the same woman. In addition, Winters has confirmed his intent to testify in court if necessary on behalf of his brother's visitation rights case against Olivia Winters.

Lawyer Reveals Dark Secret
Attorney Alex Perez revealed Monday one of the deep dark secrets plaguing her soul. The disclosure did not come as a bombshell. Previous attempts to pry background information out of Perez had caused the legal eagle to clam up. Speculators thought Perez didn't want to talk about her past because she had done something unspeakable. As a child for example, she may have played Cowboys and Indians with the neighborhood kids. During the excitement one day, she tied her best friend to a post, set the post on fire but was unable to untie the child when the flames raced out of control. Being responsible for the tragic death of a friend would certainly be a hard cross to bare.

Perez's secret turned out to be nothing more than the loss of her father. At age 12, her father walked out on the family. Ever since, Perez has blamed herself and often wonders what she did to make the man she says loved her, leave. With better than average resources at her fingertips, Perez has apparently never sought to find the man.

When word gets around, Perez will undoubtedly be showered with sympathy. But the cold hard facts show there are thousands of children who grow up never knowing their parents. A majority of these children learn to move on with their lives without wallowing in self-pity.

She Did It!
Thanks to the clever undercover work of Dr. Olivia Winters, attorney Alex Perez has obtained enough information to bring down an HMO suspected of providing financial incentives to doctors which lead to restricted access to health care.

Perez managed to obtain the information while lurking outside an open office door while Dr. Winters participated in a phony job interview with an HMO representative. With no idea the meeting was a sham, the representative told Winters specific details regarding how his HMO refers patients to specialists, what sort of procedures and prescriptions are allowed, and how financial incentives are arranged.

How Perez plans to bring down the HMO remains unclear because the Supreme Court has ruled HMO's cannot be sued.

Best Care Anywhere?
Attorney Alex Perez and medical quack, Dr. Olivia Winters have supposedly cracked the HMO case they were working on wide open - so what do they do next?

The dynamic-duo joined forces last week in a plan to get the goods on the Lawson Medical Group. Dr. Winters went incognito to a job interview pretending to be a doctor looking to make some extra spending money. During the meeting at Winter's office with Lawson's representative - with Perez lurking and listening near an open door - Winters was told how the kickback plan works and that she would be contacted at a later date.

Winters and Perez were elated. But what did they accomplish? Nothing Lawson Medical does with regard to withholding certain medical procedures is against the law. If Perez is interested in doing some real good for the community she might want to investigate why so many patients under Dr. Winters care end up dead.

Queen for a day, pretty in pink!
"No one has ever done anything special for me but then I’ve never known anyone like you," attorney Alex Perez cooed as the high school prom she never had continued at Genoa City's most expensive restaurant Monday.

The event raised the eyebrows of some Colonnade Room management types who wondered how, with his meager income, photographer Malcolm Winters would pay the estimated $3,000 bill.

Pretty in pink, thirty something Perez would have settled for a romantic night at a more modest coffee house by day, club for all ages by night. The preposterous private dining affair was a bit much but she appeared to enjoy acting like a teenager at the school prom.

As a disc jockey spun tunes from the 80's, lights and decorations gently floated in the breeze created by a bobbing photographer taking pictures to document the once in a lifetime memory.

Dinner was served on silver platters by a waiter wearing white gloves. The only thing lacking was a traditional King and Queen contest sans Nick and Sharon Newman's Hawaiian disaster. But head waiter Jock Strap was one step ahead. Like a Jack in the box, a flock of waiters popped out with a sparkling crown on a velvet pillow for the lucky Perez complete with a brief ceremony.

"Your wish is my command," Winters said addressing Perez as "my beautiful Royal Highness" and in general ruining every surprise with silly, street remarks.

Waving her hand, Perez ordered a dance on the balcony. As mood music filled the air the couple drifted outside. "You did it! You made me feel like a Queen!" Perez mused trying not to fall over from the weight of a huge corsage Winters had presented her with.

Wedding bells will ring for ding-a-lings!
The validity of her law degree questionable, legal beagle Alex Perez has announced her intention to marry local photographer, Malcolm Winters.

During a meeting with the grooms' brother Monday, Perez hinted she's ready to move on with her life now that Mr. Winter's legal battle with his former wife is in the past and remnants of the HMO case she had been working on have been turned over to the government.

Perez took the advice of Newman Enterprises chief brown-noser, Neil Winters, who suggested Perez turn the case over to the Justice Department even though the case was said to have been settled. Considering Winters is not a lawyer, why Perez didn't think of it will go down in history as one of those things that happen in Genoa City with absolutely no foundation.

Winters patronized the initial HMO settlement as, "a win for the little guy" knowing full well that like the the senior citizen who must spend $400 of a $769 monthly social security check on prescription drugs, the little guy will reap zero benefits.

No date has been set for the Winters/Perez marriage. It will be Perez's first and Winters third. Like most in Genoa City, the marriage is not expected to last longer than a year.

September 2001

Attorney moving on!
Pleased with the role she played in obtaining a monetary judgment against local HMO Lawson Medical, Newman Enterprises special attorney Alex Perez surprised the corporate world Tuesday when she turned down the opportunity of a lifetime.

Top Newman sycophant Neil Winters offered Perez the prospect of writing her own contract with a salary so large it could bail out the airline industry. But, when reminded she would be working 'very' closely with Winters, Perez turned the offer down flat.

Perez's decision appears connected to a personal dilemma she faces of being close to marrying local photographer Malcolm Winters and her hidden feelings for the shutterbug's brother. As the Genoa City News projected weeks ago, it can now be confirmed that Perez will soon join forces with prestigious attorney Michael Baldwin at the law offices of Baldwin and Williams. It was not immediately determined if Perez will be a full partner at the firm.
