Now tell me. How am I supposed to fight something like that", Carlton added. How? Very easy Mr. Carlton. Use the millions of dollars you've got stashed in the bank and open your own business! Newman can't stop you from doing that. If you don't want to start a business in Genoa City pack your bags and go back to Italy! Whatever you do, please, stop whining about things that don't matter. What's that? That old cow you love is living in Genoa City? C'mon Carlton, get real. You know it's only a matter of time until Nikki Newman goes running back to Victor. April 2000 Day Trader Raking In $$$ Surfing The Internet! Newman Woman Seeks Work! Carlton Says No Deal As Jabot Cosmetics Flounders! Jabot Cosmetics currently faces what amounts to a hostile takeover after Newman Enterprises chief, Victor Newman, recently bought up all of Jabot outstanding bank notes. Very illegal, the loan purchases were done secretly without the knowledge of Jabot officials. A Jabot spokesperson would not comment when asked by the GCNews if the company intends to pursue legal action against Newman Enterprises. There is some speculation Brad Carlton could change his mind but as it stands, Carlton appears to be planning to leave Genoa City for Prague, in the Czech Republic. May 2000 Carlton Returns

ENTERPRISES VS BRAD CARLTON! "I’ve reassessed the situation. He [Carlton] left Newman Enterprises with a great deal of inside information he can use against us. I want to take him down to his knees," Newman said as all-purpose attorney John Silva rushed to prepare the legal papers. With his personal butt kisser, Neil Winters looking on, Newman explained why he changed his mind about Carlton. "I don’t think he’s much of a threat [but] when someone signs a contract I expect them to abide by it. Not flagrantly break it with smug look on his face. Brad Carlton deserves anything that happens to him." In a blaze of legal maneuvering, the papers were drawn up and served to Brad Carlton moments later. CARLTON
MAD AS HELL! Carlton was served legal papers on Wednesday charging him with violating a non-compete clause outlined in his contract with Newman Enterprises. "I put up thirty-five millions dollars to save this sorry-ass company and do you think either Jack or Ashley Abbott would help with my legal defense? Hell no! They told me to get screwed. Hung me out to dry by myself. Some way to say thanks for all I did!" Carlton says he is not a member of the Jabot board of directors and is not competing directly with NE. "As a matter of fact I'm not doing anything at Jabot. That bitch Ashley stabbed me in the back too! Damn, I'm her Lamaze coach, I've spent hours rubbing her flat belly and just because I ask who the father of her unborn baby is she snubs me?" Carlton told the GCNews his next move will be to seek legal advice. "Yeah, I heard Michael Baldwin is Genoa City's hot-shot corporate lawyer and as I understand it has an axe to grind with Newman so Baldwin may be very interested in taking my case. In fact, I just summoned him a few minutes ago." Sure enough, moments later attorney Michael Baldwin strolled in. He informed Carlton that so long as Carlton has not directly competed with Newman Enterprises and is not on the Jabot board of directors there shouldn't be anything to worry about. In the meantime, Carlton was instructed to get his ducks in a row.

NO CASE AGAINST CARLTON! "As much I as enjoy the displeasure of your company say what you have to say and get the hell out of here, Newman growled. "So your client has a reply to the papers we served," NE all-purpose lawyer John Silva asked. Baldwin thought to himself momentarily before outlining the facts in the case: "Jeez, isn't that what I just said?" Carlton doesn’t have a position on the Jabot board of directors in spite of his investment and the Abbott’s knew about the non-compete clause in question from beginning. "They [Jabot Cosmetics] were careful not to give him [Carlton] any assignments that might conflict with Newman Enterprises products. Namely, the men’s line and new products for women over forty. Therefore your client has no case," Baldwin said. Silva asked for supporting documentation which Baldwin indicated would be easy to obtain. However, Newman and Silva reportedly have doubts that such documentation exists. August 2000 JABOT SAVOIR FACES
BOARD VOTE! Prior to the meeting, Carlton, accompanied by co-savoir Nikki Newman, informed local attorney Michael Baldwin of his intent to throw in the towel. The revelation caused Mrs. Newman to warn Carlton not to bail if doing so was because of his concern for Ashley Abbott. According to Newman, such a decision would be futile because two years down the road Victor Newman would have probably tossed Abbott away like so many times and women in the past. Attorney Baldwin advised the board that the powerful Victor Newman has no case against Carlton or Jabot because Carlton was never in direct competition with Newman Enterprises. Winning a law suit would be easy. However, Jabot COO Jack Abbott saw it differently. "A case can be made because Carlton is in close contact with Jabot board members. Since the members knew about the non-compete clause before Carlton invested money in the company a judge might rule that Jabot was negligent," Abbott said. As the votes came down, Jack and Jill Abbott voted to give Carlton the boot. Nikki Newman was opposed. At press time Ashley and John Abbott had yet to vote but the Genoa City News is projecting Ms. Abbott will vote to retain Carlton which would leave the deciding vote up to John Abbott. INVESTOR BLASTED FOR BEING GOOD GUY! "I just wanted to thank Ms. Abbott for supporting me with her board vote and no sooner had I said thanks when she began screaming at me to get out," a confused looking Carlton said. "He could have stepped aside! He used the situation to widen the gap between me and Victor [Newman]. Who the hell does he think he is?" Abbott spewed in defense of her action. "Yes, I told him to get out of my sight before I said something we would both regret. And yes, I threw a file folder at him. He's not my friend anymore," Abbott added. For someone whose company was saved from certain disaster because of a thirty-five million dollar investment made by Carlton, Abbott's fit of rage would not appear to be the nicest thing to do. STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE! Late in the week, Mrs. Newman warned her former husband and Newman Enterprises CEO, Victor Newman, that pressing his vendetta would only cause harm to the woman he loves. Details of the settlement were not immediately disclosed. LOVE IS BLIND Wedding Bells? Word has it that Carlton wants to give Abbott's overdue baby a real father even though Abbott has said all along she wants to be a single mother. Observers here are asking questions; why would Carlton want to marry a woman who has been married to so many men? Does Carlton have a thing for Victor Newman rejects? September 2000 Daddy Brad Carlton? "I don't want my relationship with her child to end with its birth. I'll even do diapers if I have too," Carlton said here Monday during a meeting with Abbott at the RoadKill Cafe. "I missed all of this [baby's first steps, etc.,] when Colleen came into the world. Steve and Traci Connally are very good parents [but] they did move around a lot. I would have pulled out anyway because I didn’t want to confuse Colleen. She has had a good life," Carlton added. The last time Carlton saw his daughter was in 1994 when he attempted to "build a relationship with my daughter" by giving the young child a pearl necklace which former wife Traci Abbott Carlton found objectionable. If Carlton is so interested in playing daddy he might want to consider contacting his daughter. And, other than a brief stay in Genoa City, the Connallys have always lived in New York. While searching for a "lucky pen" given to him when he first began working at Jabot, Carlton thanked co-worker and current roommate, Ashley Abbott for helping him obtain a seat on the Jabot board of directors. Locating the pen, Carlton handed it to Abbott, announced the pen is his first gift to Abbott's unborn baby and said, "I thought you were going to propose to me. If we were married I’d be part of Abbott family." Abbott laughed the suggestion off but she may reconsider. With Carlton as her official newest husband she wouldn't have to reveal who really sired her baby. October 2000 Female Shortage? With the marriage alter a final goal, some Genoa City observers are asking; why would a young stud like Carlton have any interest in a used up woman like Abbott? The number of men Abbott has been married to and/or had sex with reads like a list of wanted criminals at the local post office. Could this fact be what turns Carlton on or does he get a kick out of conquering Victor Newman leftovers? Pregnant for nearly a year with a baby whose paternity is unclear, Abbott continues to pine for Newman and Carlton knows it. Does he really want to be married to a woman who will be thinking about another man all the time? Years ago Carlton desperately sought another former Newman wife and left standing at the alter holding the bag when Nikki Newman fled to be with the father of her children, Victor Newman. Just recently Carlton hit on Mrs. Newman again but, after some sex with her, lost interest. Why Carlton pursues former Newman wives remains a mystery unless there is a shortage of young, virginal women in Genoa City nobody knows about. Traveling Jewelers "I carry some of the most exquisite, unique rings you'll find anywhere," a funny looking man with beady eyes was heard telling Carlton who said he needs a special ring for a special lady. The question of why Carlton and Abbott are getting married not withstanding, what would explain why Abbott waited until the day before the wedding to figure out the guest list? Scheduled for Friday, RoadKill Cafe owner, Gina Roma, on Tuesday remarked how calm and cool the bride and groom appeared, "on the day before their wedding." After obtaining approval from her brother and father, Abbott extended an invitation to Mrs. Nikki Newman solely for the purpose of vengeance. "No way in hell I will be there," Mrs. Newman said after the phone call from Abbott indicating the notice, "tomorrow at noon" was too short. Abbott also made it clear she will inform her sister, Traci Connelly, of the marriage but would not invite her to the wedding. Besides, how could Connelly make it from New York in time? In related developments, Abbott's brother, Billy Abbott, has invited Walnut Grove Academy classmate, Brittany Hodges, to the big event and the decision to ban Jill Abbott was finalized. Her life seemingly back on track, Abbott reaffirmed her decision to marry Carlton. "I’m looking forward to our future together as a family," she said. The Big Wedding! The wedding of the year just hours away, Ashley Abbott and Brad Carlton both reported Thursday of having bad dreams in which a likeness of the great Victor Newman appeared. A check of the guest list showed almost everyone who isn't anyone will be in attendance including Mrs. Nikki Newman. While stating she would not attend, Newman was said to have purchased a red velvet suit. Other guests include matron of dishonor, Dr. Olivia Winters and escort Neil Winters along with Jack, John and Billy Abbott plus Brittany Hodges. With no known family or close friends, groom Brad Carlton issued no invitations to his own wedding. Live in guest and sometimes maid, Mamie Johnson may show up at the last moment. RoadKill Cafe owner Gina Roma is catering the event. January 2001 A Family In Every Way! The first step involves publishing legal notices over next few weeks which Mrs. Carlton fears could cause a problem if her brother, Jack Abbott, should become aware of. "He'll be on the phone to Christian Paige in record time and it will mess up the whole adoption," Mrs. Abbott lamented with reference to the man she claims is the biological father of her daughter. Mr. Carlton apprised his wife there is no reason to worry since legal papers will be filed in Dade County, FL., and implied the odds of Abbott seeing a legal notice in a Florida paper are slim. The matter is expected to be resolved in two weeks. "Then we can be a family in every way. Making our memories together," Carlton added. Spontaneous
Combustion? Anxious to be back together "in every way", Mr. Carlton said Monday that if his wife doesn't come through he may "spontaneously combust" from the lack of sex. "Humans cannot experience spontaneous combustion," said Genoa City Deputy Fire Chief, Oscar Buzz when asked if Carlton should keep a fire extinguisher handy. "What's the guy's problem? Hasn't he ever heard of Madam Thumb and her four sisters?" Buzz remarked. The Green Light! Expensive items such as jewelry, new shoes and a red rose where followed by a nine course dinner complete with a real life chef preparing grilled squab, juniper berries with wild rice, wild mushrooms and mousse with wild raspberries. "I'm just getting in the mood for the real’ dessert," Carlton winked and later beamed when a group of wandering minstrels appeared on cue to play dance music. As the evening wore on, Mrs. Carlton appeared in a short, black negligee purchased on impulse after receiving her the green light. "I can hardly wait to get it off," Carlton said of the negligee as the two slobbered over one another. February 2001

02.21.01 But out there somewhere is Abby Carlton's real father who some day could become distressed that he hasn't held his daughter's hand or touched her face. Mrs. Ashley Carlton has never disclosed the father's identity and weird as it may seem, Mr. Carlton has not pressed the issue. If speculation that Victor Newman is the biological dad turns out to be true it will turn many lives in this city upside down. And if Nikki Newman knows who's sperm she switched with Newman's and that sperm belonged to Jack Abbott things could get very twisted if, by some strange act of God, Mrs. Carlton's baby is in fact Abbott's. Chance Soon after Colleen Carlton was born, the Carlton's marriage hit the skids. Mrs. Carlton fled to New York with the child, divorced Carlton and married publisher Steve Connelly. Carlton made a feeble attempt to visit his daughter but gave up when Lauren Fenmore rode him so hard one night he suffered a heart attack. Released from the hospital, Carlton never had contact with Colleen again. Mrs. Connelly returned to Genoa City in 1995 when she began having marital problems but by then Carlton had become engaged to Nikki Newman. Her marriage on the rocks again, Connelly's latest return has rekindled Carlton's desire to play a "major role" in his daughter's life. If Carlton's longing turns out to be anything like the role handyman Brock Reynolds is playing in his daughter's life, Carlton will be hard pressed to escape the deadbeat dad stereotype. Summer Ahead? Carlton's battle began one day in 1993. After a series of arguments with his then-wife, Traci, Carlton went to work. When he returned, Traci and his infant daughter Colleen were in New York City. Carlton put up a legal fight and obtained visitation rights to the child but never really got into visiting because of the long distance and bad vibes. Carlton couldn't telephone or write because his daughter couldn't speak or read at the time. The solution was avoidance. After an 8-year separation, Carlton has developed an overwhelming desire to "bond" with his child. Sparked by the arrival in Genoa City of his former wife, Traci Connelly has returned many times in the past and Carlton never gave it a second thought. Now that he's bonded with his once sister-in-law's baby and married to the child's mother, Carlton wants to complicate things. Carlton hopes to entice his aspiring dancing daughter into staying with him for the summer by offering her dance lessons. Oddly, Traci Connelly supports the plan but Carlton's current wife doesn't like the idea. The complications are going to be massive. August 2001 A
father in every way? Brad Carlton didn't seize the opportunity to point out that his daughter's question was a good one. Who is the father of his wife's baby? Before he could ask, Mrs. Carlton said she had to go out. "So late?" was the only reaction the former pool boy had. He didn't ask where she was going, why she was going or when she'd be back. It's always been strange. Why wouldn't a man want to know who the father of his wife's baby is and why would a fourteen-year-old girl be more interested in the answer to that question than Carlton is? When Colleen Carlton asked her father again on Tuesday why her Aunt doesn't want to talk about the baby's father, Mr. Carlton responded, "It doesn't matter. I'm Abby's father in every way." |
