Mary Williams

March 2000

Mother Knows Best
Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor latest of the hour has ever stopped Mary Williams from whipping up a batch of sauerkraut and spareribs for her clueless detective son, the amazing Paul Williams.

Burning the midnight oil in hopes of finding another clue which might help him solve Genoa City's joke of a stalker case, Detective Williams was excited when he discovered his mother, along with the help of his puppy dog secretary, Lynn 'Yes-Boss' Bassett, had prepared his favorite meal. "The whole building smells like a German restaurant. Give me extras", Clueless quipped as Mary pulled a plate of ribs out of the microwave.

As Clueless shoveled food into his mouth, he mumbled what a brain buster the stalker case has become. In an effort to soothe her poor son's soul, Mary spewed, "at a time like this you can look to your wonderful life with a wife you love."

Clueless thought for a moment before replying, "it is great to have the woman you love see eye to eye with you on everything."

Clueless should have winked when he said those words because the remark was a sure-fire clue that all is not as it seems.

MEDDLING MOTHER-IN-LAW
(Clueless D&A) -- At the Clueless Detective & Alarm Company Monday, the mother of detective Paul 'Clueless' Williams was shocked when Clueless' puppy dog secretary, Lynne 'Yes-Boss' Basset, ran her big mouth about Christine 'The Bug' Williams. "You’ll be happy to hear Chris' law partnership may be over."

Detective Clueless stopped the airhead long enough to tell Mary Williams that Michael Baldwin had some things to say about the Bug starting a family and cautioned his mother the breakup is not final. However, Clueless said if it happens, "It would be the end of a dream" for the Bug.

Mrs. Williams was outraged Baldwin would dare get into the Bug’s personal life and pointed out the Bug would just be getting a "new dream" in the form of a baby bug.

Williams warned his mother to stay out of it but Mrs. Williams, known for meddling, is expected to confront Michael Baldwin before too long.

Addendum
Heather Lynch, the daughter of April Lynch, is Mary Williams granddaughter. April and Paul Williams were once married. Heather came to town in 1994 to attend her mother's trial. April was charged with murdering her wife-beating husband. Found guilty, April was given a suspended five year sentence and returned to New York with her daughter. Mary Williams has not so much as made a telephone call to either since then.

Dangerous Man?
Mrs. Mary Williams charged Michael Baldwin with being "a dangerous man" here Wednesday after confronting the attorney for influencing daughter-in-law Christine 'the bug' Williams' decision not to have a baby.

Stating Baldwin sees more of the Bug than her husband does these days, Mrs. Williams accused Baldwin of being, "A selfish, deceitful, detestable, bully."

Big Mistake
"My son is making the biggest mistake of his life," Mrs. Mary Williams was quoted as saying upon learning detective Paul 'Clueless' Williams will apparently travel to Hong Kong with his wife, Christine 'The Bug' Williams.

The meddling mother-in-law pulled out all the stops in an effort to stop Clueless from leaving town but in the end gave her blessing to the trip.

Departing late next week the Bug will stay in Hong Kong for at least three months on legal business. In between business dealings, the Bug and detective Clueless are expected to work on their marriage which became tainted when it was learned the Bug would not be having a baby.

Mary Williams has consistently whined it is important the Bug give birth so that she might have a granddaughter. Williams already has a granddaughter from her son's previous marriage whom she never speaks of or attempts to contact.

Meddling Mother Mystified!
Genoa City's most active church member and meddling mother was reeling Wednesday after discovering her son, detective Paul 'Clueless' Williams, is considering a trip to Hong Kong where he hopes to arrange a reconciliation with estranged wife and lawyer, Christine 'Bug' Williams.

"He'll be making the biggest mistake of his life," a shocked Mrs. Williams said shaking her head. "He's setting himself up for a big fall."

"He really seems to be taking sadistic glee from taunting his mother like this," said Clueless Detective and Alarm Company office manager Lynne 'Yes-Boss' Bassett who confirmed the detective has no pending cases to solve and would be able to get away from town for awhile.

"Off the record, I really wish my boss would give up on that creature he calls a wife. Especially, now that I've got extra help in the office I can drop what I'm doing and be there for Paul. Lord knows I've witnessed what he and Chris have done right there on the desk in his office enough times to know what he likes," Bassett snarled.

The Williams marriage broke down last year when Mrs. Williams tried unsuccessfully to become pregnant and eventually joined in a partnership with a man who was sent to prison for sexually harassing her, attorney Michael Baldwin.

Mother Mary Back From Italy
Mrs. Mary Williams returned to Genoa City early Tuesday from Italy where she had spent a few days sightseeing with her church group. Unlike most church groups relegated to tea parties each week at the homes of alternate members, Williams has been fortunate to hookup with a wealthy, elite, globetrotting group.

Although tired from the long flight, Mrs. Williams dropped by her son's apartment without bothering to phone first. Detective Paul Williams was out but his live in client, Isabella Brana, was in.

"I really feel safer here," Brana confessed after reminding Williams her son had been kind enough to allow her to stay at the apartment. Told her son was out working on a case for Victor Newman, Williams did not accept an offer of food or drink and saying she was tired, departed.

Supposedly being followed and claiming she was attacked recently, Brana is allegedly in fear of her life but has not received any threats during the past two weeks.

Mother Mary Encouraging Sin?
Mary Williams, the mother of Genoa City's most clueless detective, has encouraged what was supposed to be a professional relationship to the next level.

Mrs. Williams has been wishy-washy over the years about where she stands on her son's marriage. At first she was opposed to Christine 'Bug' Romalotti becoming the next Mrs. Paul Williams then changed her mind when she thought the Bug would give her a desperately wanted granddaughter. When the Bug didn't come through and departed for Hong Kong, Mrs. Williams seemed pleased the marriage was falling apart.

Returning recently from a trip to Italy, Williams professed having never felt closer to God then turned right around and invited her son's live in client to dinner! Over coffee this week, Williams asked Isabella Brana, "How do you feel about my son?" A very strange question considering Williams knows Brana is supposed to be nothing more than a client.

"He’s my protector. An extraordinary man. But he’s married," Brana cooed as Mrs. Williams, sensing Brana's bout with love sickness, invited Brana and her son to dinner.

The only hope of preventing another couple from living in sin seems to be in the hands of Lynne 'Yes-Boss' Bassett. The Williams Detective & Alarm Company office manager has been in love with Paul Williams for years and may be unwilling to see her boss fall into the arms of yet another woman.

Mother Supports Disloyalty!
In a disturbing show of hypocrisy, Mrs. Mary Williams has said detractors of her son's romantic involvement with a female client should be happy.

Williams' son, detective Paul Williams, fell in love recently with Isabella Brana, a client he's known only a few days. Mr. Williams has allowed Brana to live under the same roof with him and crossed the professional line last week when the two exchanged body fluids. Williams is now reportedly ready to admit his feelings for the woman although he remains married to renown attorney, Christine 'The Bug' Williams.

Aware of a threatening letter Brana received Tuesday, allegedly from her imprisoned former husband, Mrs. Williams quipped, "That poor girl. She is so frightened."

Told by her son's office manager that there is nothing for Brana to be worried about, Williams snarled, "You seem rather unsympathetic toward Isabella. Given the state of his marriage you should be happy Paul has found someone to take his mind off his problems."

It is no secret Mary Williams cannot stand her son's wife. The cordial relationship she and the Bug once had fell apart when the Bug announced there would be no grandchild Mary had begged for.

Mary Williams professes to be a deeply religious woman but her obvious support of fornicating behavior is bound to send her straight to hell.

Mom Wants Son Happy, Smiling
Sex was designed between a man and a woman who have committed themselves to one another, before God and man, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, till death do them part. But sex outside marriage is destructive and leads to misery. Participants are doomed to sexually-transmitted diseases, broken hearts, broken marriages, bastard children, and in general, doomed to hell.

Of all the fornicating people in Genoa City, detective Paul 'Clueless' Williams should know better. His past marriages are classic examples. His current marriage all but over, Williams isn't happy. He doesn't smile anymore. He needs a new scratching post even if it mean betraying the woman who pledged to love him until death do they part.

Contributing to Williams' moral delinquency is the hypocritical, Bible-thumping, Mary Williams. For a woman, who just weeks ago said she had never felt closer to God, Mrs. Williams is no better than her son.

During a dinner engagement at her home Wednesday, Mrs. Williams told her son she fully understands he's a married man and all, but if the trailer park likes of Isabella Brana turns him on it's okay with her if he wants to fornicate.

Mrs. Williams compounded the problem by making it crystal clear to Ms. Brana that she is counting on Brana to make her son relax and smile. "You know, my mom is right. You are good for me. You do make me smile," Mr. Williams beamed at Brana. "You're good for me too," Brana cooed.

If Brana were a decent woman, she would pull the plug on this farce. Even if she has truly fallen for Williams she needs to put a cork in it until Williams gets his act together. If Brana plans to marry Williams she should pin him down before things go any further.

If Williams cannot control his lust Brana should tell him, "Sure, honey - We'll go to the submarine races as soon as you buy me an expensive shiny diamond ring and take me down the church aisle and vow faithfulness to me for the rest of your life in front of all of our friends and family, but not until!"

If Williams is unwilling, Brana should get rid of the lowlife. If he can't control himself until his divorce is final, what makes Brana think he's going to have self-control around other women when they are officially hooked-up?

As for Mary Williams, the old bag needs to dust off her Bible and check out Matthew 5:27-30.

September 2001

The eyes of God?
Perhaps the biggest hypocrite on the planet, Mrs. Mary Williams was upstaged Thursday by one of the most ridiculous statements ever made by her son.

After being told again by his mother that the marriage he once enjoyed with former crusader, Christine 'Bug' Williams, is over, detective Paul 'Clueless' Williams spat, "my marriage is not legally over. Nor is it over in the eyes of the church." In the same breath, Williams called his mother a "hypocrite" and ordered her to butt out of his worthless life.

For a man who just a few days ago committed adultery with a woman he hardly knows, this was clearly a case of the kettle calling the pot black.

A wish come true?
For months, the mother of Genoa City's super-sleuth begged and pleaded with detective Paul 'Clueless' Williams to convince his wife to produce a child. Not so much for expanding the young Williams family, but more for her desire to become a grandmother again. Christine 'Bug' Williams gave it her best shot but it wasn't in the cards.

Mary Williams was devastated. She wanted a baby to care for in the worst way. An existing granddaughter, Heather Stevens Lynch, was far too old for her to care for and lived too far away. An occasional telephone call or visit was out of the question. Mrs. Williams wanted a grandchild living practically next door.

Her son's marriage all but dissolved, except legally and in the eyes of the church, Mrs. Williams hopes grew when detective Clueless fell for a former brothel employee named Isabella 'dizzy Izzy' Brana who announced last week she is pregnant with the detective's baby.

Since Brana is spreading the word, it shouldn't be long until Mrs. Williams learns that at long last, she's going to be a granny again. But will she ever see the kid.
