Tony Viscardi

August 1999

Charges Dropped!

(Genoa City) -- The District Attorney's Office has announced all auto theft charges against Beggin Dennison and Tony Viscardi have been dismissed for "lack of evidence". While this means a long drawn out court case will be avoided the real reason the case was dropped could have to do with the fact Tony Viscardi's Legal Aid attorney, the crusader Bug, is out of town.

Dennison Girl Gets Key To Heart!
(North Park, Genoa City) -- Would William Shakespeare be pleased to see how things are going between local Romeo Tony Viscardi and Juliet Megan 'I'm begging' Dennison? After months of agony, if these two end up killing themselves, it couldn't happen to a nicer couple. It all began when virgin Megan developed a funny feeling 'down there' and wanted Tony to scratch it for her. At the time, Viscardi's best sexual pal was his grease monkey which he apparently loved spanking so much he repeatedly turned down Dennison's pleas. Megan continued to throw herself at Tony, got him very excited at times, yet the young stud managed to find the courage not to shove his torpedo into the tube or even allow Megan to spit clean it. A good thing too as just recently, the two have declared they want to wait until they are married before having sex. A good moral decision late in the game. Word has it Tony will soon give the girl of his dreams the key to his apartment and with Keith Dennison returning soon from London, it could force the youngsters to flee town. Whatever happens, there are some here who are tired of watching Megan beg for sex and then change her mind, it can't happen soon enough. These two opposites no longer have a purpose.

Gas Go-Cart Gets Go Ahead!
(Newman Ranch) -- Genoa City mechanic Tony Viscardi has announced his plan to hand-build a special gas powered go-cart as a Christmas gift for Sharon Newman's daughter, Cassidy Johnson. The idea, crazy at best, was approved by Sharon Newman who should have her head examined. It's unclear if there is a brain surgeon anywhere in the country with the ability to remove the box of rocks rattling around in Sharon's head.

Sharon Newman did ask "is it safe?" when Viscardi said the little car would only have a maximum speed of 5MPH but didn't have the forethought to ask about the risk of a mini-fire should the cart crash. For a woman so concerned about her "precious" little girl, Sharon should have flashed for a moment what her child would look like covered with second-degree burns.

Viscardi plans to have the vehicle ready by Christmas but with only a few days until the big event Tony is gonna have to stop rehashing with Beggin Dennison and Boo Hoo McNeil long enough to actually spend some time on the job.

January 2000

Tony Viscardi Dead After Fender Bender?
(Genoa City) -- "It was dark. Still too early to tell" were the only words this reporter was able to get out of a Genoa City Police officer after arriving at the scene of what could be a deadly accident. Held at a distance and with darkness setting in it was difficult to see exactly what was going on at the Keith Dennison suburban residence.

Details are still sketchy but this much we do know. At the Newman ranch, Tony Viscardi remembered having left the wedding ring he plans to slip on Beggin Dennison's finger at the Dennison house and zipped off on his motorcycle to fetch it. One witness told the Genoa City News Viscardi was not wearing a helmet and did not have any vehicle lights turned on at the time he left the ranch.

While Viscardi was enroute, Boo Hoo McNeil had learned the marriage would take place soon and slipped into a frenzy. Determined to stop the wedding at all costs McNeil fumbled with the keys to her sports utility vehicle before managing to get the beast running. Just as McNeil was backing up a loud crash was heard. McNeil jumped out of her car and screeched "Tony" when she spotted Viscardi sprawled out in the driveway.

If Viscardi dies from his injuries the accident will go down in the record books as the only other slow moving accident in this city which resulted in a death. The last death took place when, on his way home to tell Olivia Winters he was sorry for kidnapping their son, Nathan Hastings was hit by a slow moving vehicle and died on the scene.

How fast could McNeil have been going? 5MPH? How narrow is the Dennison driveway that Viscardi couldn't see a car was in motion? The truth is out there but we may never find it. (Scroll down for more on the accident)

Where's The Groom?
(City Hall) -- In a rare night session, Genoa City's Chapel of Love stayed open late for the marriage of Tony Viscardi and Beggin Dennison. Nina Webster, Sharon Newman, her orphan kid and a preacher man were seen pacing back and forth wondering why the groom hadn't shown up.

Let's Get Married - Now!
(Genoa City) -- Has Tony Viscardi been sniffing too much carbon monoxide? The local auto mechanic told Beggin Dennison she and he could get their marriage license Wednesday morning and have a justice of the peace marry them in the afternoon. Unfortunately, Viscardi forgot both he and Beggin will need blood tests which take at least one full day.

Breaking New Ground!
Usually when a person dies in Genoa City the body simply dissolves into thin air. Nikki Newman Landers didn't attend the funeral of Dr. Josh Landers and even farmed out the job of making funeral arrangements to Katherine Sterling. The list of dead people who went to heaven or hell as the case may be without fanfare is a long one.

However, for the first time in history, there will be a huge funeral for Tony Viscardi. True, Mary Williams went to Carl Williams funeral but it doesn't count because Carl wasn't really dead. It's nice to see the dead burying their dead for a change but do we really need to see people like Olivia Winters in attendance? Winters has stated that because she was at the wedding she somehow knew Tony Viscardi and that's why it is incumbent she attend the funeral.

Viscardi Funeral, Where's The Family?
(Genoa City) -- "It was a bit unorthodox to say the least but as long as the check doesn't bounce I could care less what they do" said Stonily Huntley, director of the Bury Me Deep funeral parlor as Sharon Newman of all people (see more top news below) delivered a moving good-bye to Tony Viscardi speech.

"Can't you see she's distraught? The poor girl is a nervous wreck" Ryan McNeil told the GCNews when asked why Viscardi's bride, Beggin Dennison didn't give the eulogy. Indeed, except for the time she spent grilling Boo Hoo McNeil about the details of her dead husbands tragic accident, Mrs. Viscardi was seen much of the time shaking and whimpering.

But there are other strange attributes about this first ever funeral in Genoa City. For example, why were so many people who didn't know Tony in attendance? Dr. Olivia 'the butcher' Winters and her sugar Neil Winters made a showing supposedly because the butcher had a guilt attack after yet another patient in her care kicked the bucket. Nina Webster attended the funeral because she gave away the bride but otherwise Webster doesn't know Beggin from Eve.

Where were Tony's parents? Shouldn't somebody have called them? Even if Tony were hatched from an egg wouldn't he have some family? The farmer in the dell? Why wasn't Keith Dennison summoned from London? His two children are going through hell and nobody bothered to tell him?

It was a strange funeral but one thing is for sure; Tony Viscardi has gone to a better place.

Local Nimrod Threatens Crazy Person
(Genoa City) -- Sharon "Space Case" Newman threatened Tricia McNeil saying that she knows the dirt that could destroy the two sisters relationship.

Sharon picked Tony Viscardi’s funeral of all places to threaten the once nuts, now eerily rational set of eyebrows. Some should wonder the wisdom behind Sharon’s words. If Trish could kill once, why wouldn’t she kill again? As editor Brent Kellogg mentioned, most people do not get stiff sentences for motor accidents that lead to death. If Trish could mow over Tony, why would she think twice about knocking the nitwit off?

Trish has proven time and time again to be irrational and completely off her rocker. Killing Sharon would be as significant to her as stepping on a nosey, repugnant bug. If anyone should watch her back it should be Sharon. Do we feel a crazy kidnapping a la Mary Jo Mason in the basement with the Bug coming on? Look out Sharon, you could be the next blonde drugged up and tied down in the dungeons of Newman Enterprises. Unfortunately, you’ll have to rely on Nimrod Nick to save you. Hope Daddy Newman is in town (and not humping herbalists) to get the job done right.

Elegy For A Mechanic!
(Genoa City) --The role of Tony Viscardi was one that I will miss for only one reason: the writers could have developed the character with greater depth and he could have been a pivotal object in the story lines that have been weakened by the writers who insist that people who watch Y&R are really stupid.

Tony was hardly a sleaze-bag. When he first hit the small screen on Y&R I thought he was a piece of ordure with only one "thingie" on his mind-that belonging to the Graceless Pancake Turner. But his relationship with Megan-who can still become a great character-was much better. Tony treated Megan with great respect and kept her libido in check until they were to be married. This is a quality that younger people would do well to cultivate and emulate. This writer should know.

The death scene, which took two days to complete, was reminiscent of one of the longest and finest death scenes in the musical theater: Siegfried’s death in Act III of "Götterdammerung," the fourth and final part of Richard Wagner’s wonderful "Ring" Cycle. Siegfried took a long time to kick the bucket and declared his love for his aunt Brünnhilde, in spite of the machinations of Hagen and Gunther to wed him to their sister Gutrune. (No, he did not know of the relationship to Brünnhilde, but you wonder what they did in the cave at the end of "Siegfried" after all the glorious singing on stage!)

Yes, I will remember Tony Viscardi very fondly for being a decent guy in the end and holding his own frustration with his shyster-in-law-the inimitable bitch Trasha-in check. He could have been a great character, but the writers would have nothing of that! The tear-jerking music was a great touch. (Sigh.)

Good-Bye Tony! We Hardly Knew Ye!
When he first came to Genoa City in the form of a swaggering, smooth talking, lanky grease ball in the body of actor Nick Scotti the reaction was mixed. He’d come back to find his "Gracie" and make her his girl. He was a bad boy who like to do bad things, although we never really learned what those bad things were. The attempted to pursue Victoria Newman for a brief while and probably would have succeeded if the writer’s had allowed it - with Vicki being so loose and all.

But instead of making him the new Brad Carlton, he went the way of other guys from the wrong side of the tracks in GENOA CITY and became the next Malcolm Winters, a bad boy with bad English doing good. Viewer soon fell in love with Scotti’s boyish charm and started ignoring all the gel in his hair. But the infatuation with Scotti was short lived as the new "Canoli" Tony was born who looked more like a lumbering jock rather than a smart-alecky imp. But even Mr. Italino grew on some viewers as he worked to woo and then woo away one local Miss Priss, Megan Denison. When things with Grace soured, love blossomed in the most long, drawn out and annoying way. Everyone knew Dennison threw her panties over and over again at the Viscardi, but he, ever the gentleman, refused to poke the virgin.

During this time Viscardi made one enemy, Tricia McNeil. The reasons for her hatred were never quite founded. Viewers were left to speculate as to whether it was because he was from the wrong side of the tracks or because he wasn’t an upwardly mobile mailroom clerk at Newman Enterprises (Goodness knows, flirting with Vicki, he was headed in that direction.) But Viscardi was going the route of virtuous and true and no trashy Tricia snootiness or over-sized Gracie bras were going to stop him from getting to his one true love.

In the end it would be his arch-enemy that would cause his downfall. It seems that getting run over by a car is fatal. Whether or not anyone will be punished for the crime we may never know, but we do know this: Some of you may miss Anthony Viscardi, some of you may not. But once you get killed on Y&R, you almost always don’t come back (with some Victor Newman like exceptions), but your storyline will. So take heed gentle viewer, dear Tony is not dead ... just another character waiting to be reborn again in another retread, background storyline. After all, old grease monkey’s don’t die ... they just fade away.

Besides, think of poor Megan ... after all that hemming and hawing did we miss it or did she ever get laid?

The Showdown!
(Genoa City) -- Having been told repeatedly by Nina Webster and others to confront her whacked out sister, Megan Viscardi is expected to confront Tricia McNeil soon about the death of her young husband, Tony. McNeil has sworn up and down she didn't mean to run over Viscardi with her SUV. The resulting bump on Viscardi's head caused his death a few hours later at Genoa City's infamous Center 4 Disease where patients routinely die from the slightest injury. There are concerns Viscardi's death may in fact have been caused by Dr. Olivia Winters whose specialty, while unknown, does not appear to be emergency medicine. On his death bed, Tony Viscardi married Megan Dennison before kicking the bucket. While no criminal charges are pending, Mrs. Viscardi suspects her sister is responsible for the death and it appears she would like nothing better than to have McNeil sentenced to life in prison without parole. Unfortunately, in America, even out and out convicted murderers commonly receive sentences of not more than five years.

Viscardi Widow Packing It In
(Genoa City) -- It won't be long until Megan Viscardi learns the truth about Tricia McNeil's dirty little tricks. Viscardi will have many questions about what really happened the night McNeil ran her husband, Tony Viscardi, down with her gas guzzling SUV and Viscardi subsequently died from a bump on the head. Some of the questions Viscardi has for her sister are expected to be resolved, but some will not. Disgusted, Viscardi is expected, like many other former Genoa City residents, to drift out of town for parts unknown. As far as Tricia and Ryan McNeil's relationship, what the future will hold for them isn't clear. Ryan McNeil is only concerned with one thing; that his wife will move on so he can get some steady sex.

Viscardi Makes Job Demand!
(Genoa City) -- In a bizarre move, Megan Viscardi has demanded Ryan McNeil fix her up with a job at Newman Enterprises! Viscardi told McNeil here Wednesday she didn't much care what kind of job she's given as long as it pays enough so she can save enough money to leave town. An entry level position would be fine. McNeil said he would do his best. Observers are outraged. What employer anywhere would give someone a job with no skills or experience in the work force knowing the employee planned to quit as soon as possible?

Viscardi Death Case Closed?
(Genoa City) -- Police detectives working on the Tony Viscardi case won't say much regarding the  status of their investigation. Originally writing the case off as an accidental death, the cops had no intention of questioning Mrs. Ryan McNeil and never considered bringing manslaughter charges against the now wigged-out woman who, while in a rush to leave her home, backed into and subsequently killed mechanic Viscardi with her gas-guzzling SUV.

However, when long-time Viscardi confidant Sharon Newman learned McNeil may have been killed Viscardi on purpose, she antagonized one of the detectives so much the case was re-opened. Police told Mrs. McNeil not to leave town while the case was being investigated. Now, it has been learned Tricia McNeil will be leaving soon for London. "We spoke with Mr. Keith Dennison and he assured us his daughter will only be gone for about three months and if we need her sooner, Dennison said he'd send her to us. We have no reason to doubt such an upstanding pillar of the community as Mr. Dennison. Besides, if McNeil refused our request she could easily be extradited", Police Chief Gordon "do nothing" Hurrahs told the Genoa City News.

Meaningless Death!
The demise of local mechanic, Tony Viscardi, appears to be going down in Genoa City history as another meaningless death.

Viscardi died in January after his fiancé's sister, Tricia 'Boo Hoo' McNeil, ran him down with a gas guzzling SUV. McNeil claimed the death was an accident but others, including Nina Webster, were not so sure. Although agreeing to re-open the case, Genoa City Police never pursued an investigation.

"Even if we had brought a case against Mrs. McNeil the best we could have come up with would have been vehicular manslaughter," a spokesperson for the City Prosecutor told the Genoa City News.

"I shouldn't have to tell you that in this country you can kill someone with your car and not worry. If found guilty, the worst sentence you might get is a five-year sentence and you could be out of prison within one year."

Soon after the 'accident' McNeil fled to London and her marriage to Newman Enterprises executive Ryan McNeil fell into disrepair.

With the heat off, McNeil recently returned to Genoa City and has agreed to seek the services of a marriage therapist.
