Holy Christ! That's some justice system they got in Genoa City where you
can, based on suspicion, obtain a restraining order preventing someone you
don't like from getting within 500 feet of your entire family, and that
includes relatives, anyone even remotely associated with your people. The
hell you say? Michael Baldwin did it. Paid off some judge and served the
order himself on one Ryder Callahan, who - had the judge bothered to
investigate - was on Thanksgiving invited into the Baldwin condom and in
fact works for - and lives with - a member of the Baldwin clan, Kevin
Fisher. Of course that was before Lauren Baldwin was scared out of her wits
by a rat found inside her Little Shop of Horrors.
No ordinary rat, it was proven by an exterminator beyond a reasonable doubt
to be a rodent of the pet shop variety and otherwise harmless. No proof that
Ryder purchased, or was in any way connected with the rat, other than the
human variety seen daily at the Fisher-owned Jitter Joint, that he was also
suspected of sending a rat-in-a-box to Lauren during a rooftop wedding
ceremony was enough to convince a judge to issue a restraining order
because, apparently based on hearsay, Lauren thought she saw Ryder coming
out of the horror shop. No need either was the testimony of a horror shop
employee working inside the shop at the time Ryder was seen coming out of
it. Nor would it appear that Ryder will have the opportunity to respond; to
maybe tell the judge that the Baldwins and Fishers have a vendetta against
him. Or that he works for Kevin so how the hell can he stay away from them
when they're always slumming at the JJ. Besides that, the JJ is barely 500
square feet in diameter.
Out of it pretty much describes the overall scene of Michael at the Athletic
Supporter Club Restaurant/Hotel one moment sniping at customers he doesn't
like and the next declaring Ryder a terrorist whom he intended to "take
down". Served papers, Ryder assumed it meant the end of his minimum wage
job. Oh no, all he has to do is stay 500 feet away from the creeps. Given
the owners are so often out taking care of personal matters, digging through
toxic swill, with no other employees around, the Baldwin's are gonna be hard
pressed to get, um, served and then they'll probably bitch about that.
Okay, can anyone say why Phyllis Newman has a secretary? You didn't know?
She has one. She claims to work at Newman Enterprises with her gorilla boy
husband and with a kidnapping to oversee, called her secretary and ordered
that her calendar be cleared. That had to have been the easiest thing the
secretary has ever had to do because what work could Phyllis possibly do and
when does she do it? If she's not at the city dump, if she's not at the ASC
or the JJ, she's either at the jail or harassing Sharon Collins.
