FRIDAY,
11.14.08 - New Yorker investigative reporter Seymour Hersh says he's got
a slew of sources waiting to spill the Bush criminal beans on or about Jan
20. "You cannot believe how many people have told me to call them on January
20. [They say,] 'You wanna know about abuses and violations? Call me then.'"

Plan B: Gangster Paulson now says that using billions of dollars to buy
troubled assets of financial institutions is "not the most effective way" to
use the $700 billion bailout package. So what we have is now a $700B slush
fund for Bush and Paulson to do with whatever they please. And wasn't that
plan A?
Stand-by please. Your government could give a shit about the financial mess
you may be in, but the Congress is poised to give the auto industry at least
$25 billion. Obama wants $50b. So what is Rep. Barney Rubble Frank doing?
Pushing the auto bailout. What a guy.
This as the DOW falls again and again and the gangster Paulson backs away
from the promise to help those in deep mortgage shit. 85,000 lost their
homes last month alone. Last I read, if there is any plan to help, it won't
help the 80% of those who need help. Meanwhile the headline is that the
unemployment rate "unexpectedly" hit a 7-year high at 7%. What, with all the
people losing their jobs they had no idea?
Then there was the headline "Wall Street Rises After Economic News". How can
this be, I asked, clicking the link and there it was: "Wall Street had a
calmer start to trading Thursday, with stocks moderately lower after three
straight days of declines. Investors appeared to take in stride a government
report showing a larger-than-expected jump in unemployment claims."
At the exact time the DOW was down 48 points. Yeah, I should have known
negative numbers equal increase when the DOW is at 8200. It was only late in
the day that the DOW bounced back 552 points, but only because the rush was
on to buy cheap stock From what I was reading it doesn't mean the crash is
over and in fact there was more talk of a "deep depression".
With Americans suffering from $900 billion in credit card debt, Federal bank
regulators have rejected a request by banks and consumer advocates for a
program to let lenders forgive huge portions of the debt. Apparently the
advocates haven't seen the memo. The government doesn't give a shit about
those is debt. How many times must we say this?
Need more proof?
Passengers stranded for hours aboard planes on the tarmac would still have
to depend on the goodwill of airlines and airports for relief under
guidelines adopted by a federal task force this week. Get this: the task
force was dominated by the airline industry. Gasp! No surprise, it approved
guidelines for airlines and airports to follow in cases of extended tarmac
delays. Passengers forced to wait for hours on the tarmac had hoped to get
some redress. But how can they when the airlines police themselves under the
guise of a "federal" task force?
If you've lost track of how far in debt the government is, it's currently $5
trillion and that's just the financial system saving cost.
If they're going to piss money away it may as well be on something good.
Would you believe heath care for all within a year?
Senator Max Baucus, yes, that Baucus, has a plan to guarantee health
insurance for all Americans by facilitating sales of private insurance,
expanding Medicaid and Medicare, and requiring most employers to provide or
pay for health benefits. The plan would eventually require [everyone] to
have health insurance coverage, with federal subsidies for those who cannot
afford it. Cost? A mere $75 billion.

I told you years ago about Sharp, and how I'd never ever again buy a Sharp
product.
Three of the world's largest LCD screen manufacturers have agreed to plead
guilty to antitrust violations and pay $585 million in fines. The case
involves LG Display Co. Ltd., Sharp Corp. and Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd.
"These price-fixing conspiracies affected millions of American consumers who
use computers, cell phones and numerous other household electronics every
day. These convictions, and the significant fines they carry, should send a
clear message that the antitrust division will vigorously investigate and
prosecute illegal cartels, regardless of where they are located," said an
assistant AG.

Here we go again. It's okay to gamble in Nevada and Oregon and other places,
but you can't do it on the Internet. Bush's goons have given banks and other
payment services - a year - to stop transfers of money to Internet gambling
sites. You see, Bush has this thing called the Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act of 2006, which bans payments made through credit cards,
electronic funds transfers and checks for online wagering.
Guess who wants to let the gambling go on. Barney Frank!
"This midnight rulemaking will [...] burden the financial services industry
at a time of economic crisis," Barney said.

A new cancer - like we needed one.
When Gail and I asked the doctor how a non-smoker could develop lung cancer
we were told "there's something in the air". Now, there's a new breast
cancer called IBC. Inflammatory breast cancer is a more aggressive form of
breast cancer that tends to strike younger women. The biggest problem is
that few know about it so it's not being caught until very late. Symptoms of
IBC may include:
* Redness
* Swelling
* Warmth
* Increase in breast size
* The skin may also have ridges or appear pitted, like the skin of an orange
* The nipple may also become inverted.
These symptoms usually develop in a matter of weeks or months - all without
the presence of a lump.
As for detection, the key is "know your body". Be aware when something
changes and don't be afraid to find out what that change is. Women who have
IBC often ignore the subtle changes. Their mammograms come back clean, even
ultrasounds can come back negative, so if you've noticed something wrong and
aren't getting your questions answered, get aggressive about it. Those found
with IBC are often already at stage 3. Take it from Gail, you don't want to
be stage 3 when you find out.

Faced with raking leaves this weekend?
Don't do it!
The landfills don't want the leaves, you can't burn them anymore, and you
create so much work for yourself when you can deal with them in place by
simply waiting for them to dry until they're crunchy and then mowing over
them. Doing so will put valuable nutrients into your lawn. |
