The Newsbrief Archives By Phyllis Brooks Speed link to: Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday For week of 10.01.07 Show #8738 - 10.01.07 - Director: Andrew Lee
Still in
her parked car with Brad, Sharon takes a call from Nick to say, "I
needed someone to talk to" when he asks how it is that Jack found
out about their kiss which Nick explains away as having happened
because, "I wasn't thinking clearly." As for Sharon's concern about
what Phyllis will do when she finds out, Nick says he'll "handle"
Phyllis.
Nick
went from the prison to his office and Sharon was waiting when he
got there. As Nick was telling her of having told Phyllis about the
kiss, Sharon's phone rang. Phyllis was the line asking, "How does my
husband kiss?" and told Sharon if she's got anything to say - say it
to her face. Sharon told Nick and he said not to worry; give Phyllis
a chance to calm down and all will be well. Show #8739 - 10.02.07 - Director: Sally McDonald A fairly straightforward day starts at the Abbott home. Jack and Noah are at the breakfast table talking about Noah's "science project" and Noah wanting to show it to Nick. As Sharon enters to say she's going to the bookstore, Jack flashes back to her kissing Nick.
"Why are
you guys acting so weird?" Noah asks. When Sharon adds she'll be going to see Phyllis tomorrow, Noah says he wants to go with her. Sharon says no. "Why not?" Noah spits as Jack says, "Yeah, why not?" Sharon says because Noah got suspended from school and has homework to do. In fact, that's why she's going to the bookstore; to get copies of his school books. At that point Jack agreed that Noah can't go to the prison. The doorbell rings. It's Nick to see Jack. Once the kid is sent upstairs, the adults get into it. Jack won't accept Nick's apology; he doesn't want to understand why Nick did what he did. "You'd do anything to get closer to my wife," Jack spewed as Nick said it was only "one kiss" and "didn't mean anything." Nick goes upstairs to help Noah and when he's done is told by Jack, "If you're finished, you can leave now." Jack also says Sharon "deserves better" and Nick takes the blame for everything that has happened. One good thing came of it, however. Nick found out that Sharon loves Jack. "I was confused," Nick sputters and before Jack can finish his "You self-righteous snake..." sentence, Noah interrupts when he calls down from the stairs. With Noah contained, Nick let's Jack have it. "You're criminal activity is affecting my son!" Before the argument gets out of hand, Noah appears to tell them, "Stop fighting!" Then Noah asks what they're fighting about. Him? That he got suspended from school? Jack lies about what he and Nick were fighting about and promise it won't happen again. "Aren't you guys supposed to know better?" Noah wonders. Nevertheless, as Jack was showing Nick the door he told him, "Unless you're picking up Noah, you are no longer welcomed in this house." Nick went home to make a videotape for Phyllis within which he said that he loves two women; Phyllis and - Summer - and that's the way it'll always be. Meanwhile, Sharon was at the club where she called Neil to say she needs to see him on a matter of great importance. Neil agreed to meet her at Newman Enterprises where earlier, Neil, Karen and Nick had been discussing business before Nick was called away on a matter of lesser importance. With Neil, Sharon told him of the kiss. It was "only" a kiss. So how did Jack find out? Sharon told Neil that Jack overheard her talking to Brad. Yet to sink into her thick head how that came about, Sharon blames herself. "What's wrong with me?" Neil says there's nothing wrong with her; she made "a mistake"; she was "confused". "So how are you feeling now?" Neil asks. Bawling now, Sharon says she'll always love Nick, and Neil says maybe a part of her wanted Jack to find out about the kiss. If her marriage was "solid", would she have kissed Nick? Neil concludes that Jack will forgive Sharon if he doesn't want to lose "an amazing woman." Meeting Karen at the club later, Neil said to her that Sharon was, "My wife's best friend." Back home, Sharon told Jack she'd picked up some goodies to rekindle a romance by, but Jack wasn't interested. All he could do was say how he first realized he loved her. If only he could have known she'd just kissed her former husband. What a fool he was. Back at the club, Colleen noticed Brad ordering dinner for one and told him the professor is cooking dinner tonight; would Brad like to join them? Brad was apprehensive, but Colleen was already calling for the professor to set another place at the table. "Is this important to you?" the professor asked. When Colleen said yes, but that she could reschedule if need be, the professor told her to come on over. "Are you sure?" Colleen asked. In the gym, Cane was power lifting when Lily walked in to say that her family has always been athletic, except for her; she's more cerebral and thought this would be a good time to start getting physical. Cane rambled on about when he was a "trainer" in Australia and wants to take Lily on a hike. When a hot babe walked in, Cane waved to her and introduced the much better looking woman to Lily as his "workout buddy." At the Professor's apartment, Brad is checking out his vast library and notes it's all alphabetized. Cane says yeah, Colleen did that. While the professor is stirring the French onion soup, Brad looks over his notes pertaining to the reliquary. As they eat, the professor wonders if Brad caught Jack's press conference and equates it with "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." Dinner is interrupted when Lily calls Colleen with a progress report on Cane. All she sees going badly so far is that Cane is training another girl. A good time is had by all and afterwards the professor says, for inviting Brad, Colleen will have to be punished. Two hours proofreading his writing, and one hour him massaging her. Back at the club, Lily sees the hot babe kissing Cane on the cheek and he tells Lily the lady has "nothing on you." Then he asks if Lily would like to workout with him from now on; he'll be her, um, trainer. Show #8740 - 10.03.07 - Director: Phideaux Xazier At the Abbott home Jack is in a funk. Sharon is going to visit Phyllis at the prison and will have to reschedule a planning meeting she has concerning another benefit for Cassie. Jack suggests she take a bodyguard with her to the prison and sneers, "Maybe Nick's available." As for the benefit, Jack says maybe she and Nick could set up a "kissing booth." At the prison, Jana is pestering Phyllis with personal questions until Phyllis says her business is "private" and for Jana to imagine there's an invisible barrier around her. A guard appears to say Phyllis has a visitor. During the visit, Phyllis reminds Sharon that she kissed "my husband" and Sharon thinks Phyllis summoning her is "payback." Sharon goes on to say that Nick was "confused" and for Phyllis not to get all worked up; she and Nick are just friends; they share a child together. Sharon says she and Jack are going to work through their problem and foresees herself and Jack having a happy life and growing old together. As for Phyllis' concern for Jack, Sharon says she'll take care of her marriage and Phyllis should take care of hers. At the club there's a lot going on. Abby is back in town and spending a few days with Brad. A talkative little girl, she says Ashley is engaged to Ridge Forrester and wants to know when Victoria's baby is due. Seeing Victor walk in, Abby runs off to greet him. Victoria tells Brad that Abby will have to be told at some point what's going on, but Brad wants to wait until they know who the daddy is. He also reminds Victoria that she's the one who wanted the divorce. Colleen joins them to say that Abby is excited that she's soon to have a baby brother and when Victoria leaves, Brad tells Colleen that he knew what love was when Colleen was born. Done chatting with Abby, and telling her that Zapato has been asking about her, to which Abby said "dogs can't talk", Victor ran into Jack and showed him all the negative newspaper articles from the Ethics Committee investigation on down. Suggesting that Jack sell him the casino to pay his legal fees, brought about Jack's wrath. He won't be selling the casino and it's Victor who is losing his wife and children while he, Jack, has a "loving" family at home. Victor's ego is blinding him; he should forget about the problems of others and concentrate on his own. "I don't forget. I get even," Victor grunted. Back home, Sharon checks with Noah to see if he's done his homework. He has and so she wants his help coming up with a present for Jack; something to "cheer him up." Back at the club, Nikki runs into Jack and rips him for causing investors to pull out of the Clear Springs project. Jack says that if she wants to point fingers at someone, she should point her middle one at her soon to be former husband. At the same time Victor is watching a report on TV. Clear Springs has become a "white elephant". 10% of investors have pulled out so far. Victor smiles. Later, when Jack comes home, Sharon lays it on him. An MP3 player already loaded with Jack's favorite tunes including Rap! Jack is amazed; how did Sharon know what his favorites are? Well, he told her a few days ago. And she remembered most of them? Wow, Sharon is one amazing woman for which Jack rewards her with a hug. Back at the prison for a moment, while Phyllis had just told Jana not to meddle in her personal business, now she's giving Jana all the details of her meeting with Sharon including her contention that she and Nick are "solid". Jana is somewhat shocked. Gosh, Nick needs Phyllis and here she is stuck behind bars. Earlier, Nikki and Cane were at Newman Enterprises talking about the project. Sales are down thanks to Jack and Nikki wants to hold off on phase 3. She may have to borrow more money. With Cane off to the club, Victoria dropped by to say she could go to Clear Springs for Nikki if it would help; she's going there anyway with J.T. Nikki says no, she doesn't want Victoria to overdo it what with her baby and all. Speaking of baby, Nikki has a bag of baby things she bought. Alas, Victoria says she cannot accept them. But when Nikki leaves, she looks through the bag as a song, "Baby, My Baby" plays in the background. Bawling now, Victoria says it's "hormones" when Brad sees her. Saying she fears that keeping the baby things will "change the pregnancy", Brad hugs her. Back at the club, Lily had been talking to Colleen about Cane "teaching her" and wanting to know how she'll ever be able to get closer to him. Colleen had an idea: Tell Cane she has a school assignment and needs his help. At the coffee shop now, Lily informs Cane she's doing a paper on "cultural anthropology" and he agrees to help her with it. Cane rambles on about differences between the USA and Australia. In the U.S., people "live to work". Down under, they "work to live." Asking what he does in his spare time, Cane said, "Drink beer". Adding that Aussies are not into possessing things like Americans, Cane asked what year Lily is in at school. When she said she's a sophomore, Cane said he had to leave and Lily ran back to ask Colleen, "Do I look like a dumb ass?" She feels like one. Colleen told her to calm down; Cane likes her. Meantime Heather has come in, and seeing Cane told him Ji Min's death was a "possible homicide. When Cane asked a couple questions and mentioned the toll it's taking on Jill, Heather said "guilty parties" usually have in an interest in such matters. Show #8741 - 10.04.07 - Director: Sally McDonald At the club, Cane is lifting weights and checking out his arms as Lily and Colleen discuss Lily's worry about the age difference between herself and Cane. Colleen tells her again that age is all in the mind; look how it turned out with her and the professor. Also there with Karen, Neil invites Cane to dinner at his place in forty-five minutes and five minutes later they, Lily, Devon and Cane are about to dig in. Neil mentions the dinner is part of his plan for the family to get together once each week and asks Lily to say grace. They all hold hands and of course Lily is next to Cane so she grabs his and blurts out a quickie good God lets eat. But Neil wants a longer prayer; "Let's pray for those no longer with us." Moments later Lily is on the phone with Colleen telling her that Neil invited Cane and she's nervous as hell. Colleen tells her to relax; she'll be fine. When Devon's phone rings, Neil makes a new rule: No phones at the dinner table. Then Cane rains on Lily's parade by saying, "If I was younger," the implication being that he's not interested in her the way she is in him. Dinner over, Devon gets Lily aside to ask why she's interested in Cane which doesn't help her self-esteem. Meantime, Karen is telling Neil that she likes seeing the Mr. Mom side of Neil. It's a side she's never seen before; he's more human. Devon is the first to leave followed shortly by Cane. At the Abbott home, Sharon is wearing a white dress. The lights are off and candles lit. Leading Jack into the dining room he says he's not in the mood. "I'll get you in the mood," she coos, and again Jack says no; he's got too much on his mind. Then Jack has second thoughts. Hugging her, he hints that they should get it on only now Sharon has a craving for - pizza! Jack orders delivery and as they're eating Sharon's phone rings. It's Brad calling to say that word of Jack's scandal has hit the Chicago papers. Hanging up on him, Sharon returns to Jack who starts rubbing her back. Hearing her groan, Jack says, "Hearing you moan has its own rewards." Meanwhile, Brad is leaving a message on her phone. If Sharon ever needs anything she need only call. By now Jack is telling Sharon that he's got his prospective back. All is well and mostly forgotten. When he remembers Noah might be around, Sharon says she sent the kid to spend another night at Sam's. The coast clear, Jack kisses her and they have hot sex on the sofa. Flash to Brad again on the phone telling someone, "Nick Newman is pursuing the senator's wife [...] put me through to your editor." At Kevin's place, Gloria is telling him that Wilma sent Jeff a jar of the face cream and she's worried Wilma may have been onto something before he died. Kevin says Wilma would never have wanted her to suffer as Gloria adds that Jeff doesn't know why Wilma sent the cream. Then she concludes she's just being paranoid and has nothing to worry about. Still, she needs to get the cream from Jeff and to accomplish that will use Kevin. "No! No, no Mom!" Kevin hollers, refusing to help her in any way. Gloria isn't hearing him; she needs Kevin to steal the cream from Jeff's room and he'll do it for her sake. "Hire a thief!" Kevin objects, as Gloria asks if he wants her to go to jail and again Kevin refuses, this time leaving. Baldwin arrives later to tell Gloria to stay away from Jeff, but she calls anyway to arrange a meeting. At the club bar, Jeff is asking Jill what Wilma was investigating before he died. She tells of the contaminated skin cream and how she thought it was an inside job. Sadly, the person was never found. Asked by Jill why he's so inquisitive, Jeff said he has a case of "ideal curiosity" as she leaves. On the phone now with Gloria, Jeff learns she has a memento of Wilma she wants him to have and she wants the jar of cream as her memento of Wilma. Jeff says he may have thrown it away, but might be able to find it by the time she meets him at the bar. Before Gloria got there, Jeff showed the barkeep two identical jars of cream. Do they look alike? "Good!" As Gloria arrives Jeff gets a call from the lawyer he hired. Bad news. Jeff has no legal standing. Gloria gets all the money (presumably from Wilma's estate). The memento Gloria had for him was in fact a book of Shakespeare sonnets belonging to Baldwin. She tells Jeff that Wilma would have wanted her to have the cream and he hands over one of the jars as she has a flashback of tainting the cream and saying all she ever wanted was to get even with Jack. Back with Baldwin, Gloria says she would recognize the jar anywhere when he asks how she knows it's the same cream. He also told her that from now on don't give away his books without asking. Meantime, back at the bar, Jeffery is looking at the other jar of cream.
