Remember When - 2001
Nick & Sharon Newman's Dead Baby - part 6

Want to talk about
it?
by Suzy Tanaka
Imagine a city so warm and cuddly it rolls out the red carpet to all
newcomers stepping foot on its hallowed ground. After searching high and low
for the perfect city in which to establish new roots, you arrive one day at
Genoa City's International airport. Stepping off the plane you are greeted
by the Mayor and other dignitaries. They shower you with gifts and give you
the key to the city. But you've got to return it within 24-hours. After
that, you're on your own.
After turning in the key you look around for a place to get a good cup of
coffee. Starbucks is out. You're looking for something more intimate. A
coffee house by day, club for all ages by night. A few passerby's you quiz
recommend the little shop near the local college run by a popular couple
named Newman.
Because the Newman
shop is conveniently located you travel the few blocks to check it out. From
outward appearance, save for the overflowing dumpster in the back, the shop
looks inviting. You enter, find there are plenty of available tables, and
wait to be served. After a friendly waiter takes your order you notice a
woman behind the counter looking at a piece of mail fighting back tears.
Others in this city have made you feel so at home you can't help but feel
compassion for the woman. Pushing away from the table you take a few steps
toward the counter and notice the envelope in the woman's hand. It must be a
bill you tell the woman but she seems to be having difficulty figuring that
out. You think to yourself, what's wrong with this picture?
"I need to know if an innocent life was lost for no good reason," the woman
volunteers.
"Are you okay?" you
ask.
"It's just a bill," the woman says but you know there's more to it. "It was
for a test but there are no results here," the woman continues.
Determined to help, you tell the woman the test results must have gone to
the doctor. Why not call? But in a blink of an eye the woman is heading
toward the door. As she scurries along you notice a sound. Like rocks
rolling around in an empty box.
Back at your table you look around. Your order has not arrived but a lot of
mindless teenagers have just walked in. Before you can flag down the waiter
the woman returns holding another envelope. Opening it she breaks down
bawling. You rush to her side. Her head goes into your armpit before she
comes to her senses.
"I hardly know you,"
she babbles.
"Want to talk about it?" you ask.
"No," the woman squawks and then rushes off.
Again, you hear that
sound. Like rocks rolling around in an empty box.

Married to the Devil?
Newman Enterprises heir to the throne Nick Newman was observed this week wandering the
halls of his father's empire and looking out the windows lost in deep thought. His
disheveled appearance due in part to cat-napping on a short sofa, Newman considered having
to sleep at the office a small price to pay for the few moments of enduring freedom he
receives in return.
Too dumb to realize it,
Sharon Newman literally drove her husband out of their home and if she didn't stop
picking her nose and eating it, she'd drive him out of her life for good. And for what? A
dead baby.
Not satisfied with two healthy children, or happy that an evildoer didn't
sire the dead baby she didn't even bother to name, Sharon was willing to
risk everything in the name of blame.

No progress in Newman divorce
Determined to prevent the break up of their son's marriage, Victor and Nikki
Newman agonized over what will happen if Nick and Sharon Newman's marriage
goes south.
"I wish we could share the benefit of our experience to help them avoid the
mistakes we made," Victor said of his many failed marriages.
Nick may not be very
bright but he does have enough sense to know that ridding himself of a woman
who bawls and snivels endlessly over the slightest thing can only be a
positive step.
Leaving no doubt
that Sharon is a confused, phlegm coughing, nauseous woman was the outright
backbiting of her own daughter. During a conversation with her mother,
Sharon whined that Cassie Newman is treating her badly and that hubby Nick
put the kid up to it.
At one time the only happily married couple among the elite in Genoa City
the Newmans troubles came to a boil recently when Mrs. Newman lost an unborn
baby. Since that time she has been unwilling to accept responsibility for
the death saying her husband is to blame.
