Chris Foster
was traumatized by her rape and refused to have sex with Snapper. Snapper tried to be
patient but it really didn't matter because he was getting sex from Sally McGuire.
Sally was in love with Snapper, too, and would do anything to keep him. She wanted a
husband. Her own family sucked. Her father died an alcoholic, her mother committed suicide
and Sally was already an unwed mother.
Brad Eliot had told Sally that Snapper was no good but this didn't stop her from tossing
her birth control pills in the toilet and getting pregnant by Snapper.
Snapper became really hot for Chris and dumped Sally without knowing she was pregnant.
Chris filed charges against the main who raped her, but due to a lack of evidence the case
was dismissed. Snapper proposed marriage and Chris accepted.
Sally freaked when she found out about Snapper's engagement. She took a drug overdose, but
Brad saved her. Back on the job, Sally told her boss, Pierre Roulland that she was
pregnant. He too was in love with her and offered to marry her and give the baby his name.
Sally wanted to tell Snapper. When his mother, Liz, found out, she tried to change Sally's
mind about interfering with Snapper's future. Sally accepted Pierre's proposal and they
eloped just days before Chris and Snapper's wedding.
Chris and Snapper were happy at first living in a small apartment. When Chris became
pregnant, however, Snapper saw the dark clouds gathering.
Back from Europe, Lorie quickly ruined Leslie's happiness when Leslie told her that she
was in love with Brad. Lorie went to work at The Chronicle working with Brad and feeding
him misinformation about Leslie.
Meantime, Jill Foster was living the good life. Katherine was good to her and Jill dealt
with Katherine's addiction to booze. She also realized that Katherine's marriage was a
joke.
Jill and Phillip Chancellor grew closer and although they came from different worlds they
fell in love but kept it a secret.
When Brock Reynolds, Katherine's son from a prior marriage, arrived at the Chancellor
estate things got hairy. Once a druggie and sex pervert, Brock wanted to help his mother
find herself, and God. Brock also had also spent time with Lorie Brooks in Paris and
always hot for a good woman wanted Jill who only wanted Phillip.
Snapper thought Chris wasn't ready for marriage. Instead,
for a physical relationship, he turned to Sally McGuire, because Chris had developed a
hang-up over sex and couldn't sleep with Snapper. Sally was Chris's opposite. Her mother
had committed suicide and her father had died an alcoholic: she'd already had an
illegitimate child. In love with Snapper, her only path to a better life, she gave herself
to the man she loved. She wanted Snapper more than anything in the world. Brad Eliot, who
lived over Pierre's restaurant, became a close friend of Sally's and would only end up
getting hurt. But Sally wouldn't listen.
Desperate one night, Sally tossed aside her birth control pills. She ended up regretting
her decision. She became pregnant, but it was too late. Snapper, concerned for Chris,
broke off with Sally, and after much persuasion, convinced Chris to marry him. His main
reason on proposing to her was to help her get over her rape.
Chris did try to have a physical relationship with Snapper, as Sally had, but still
couldn't go through with it. Snapper had understood and respected her all the more.
Meanwhile, Chris pressed charges against her attacker, but because there were no
witnesses, he was set free.
Crushed after hearing of Snapper's engagement to Chris, the pregnant Sally had no one to
turn to and tried to kill herself. After Brad Eliot saved her life, she told Pierre
Roulland, the owner of the club where she worked, that she was pregnant. Pierre
was in love with her and asked her to marry him and told her that no one else needed to
know that the child wasn't his. Sally declined his offer. She still had hopes of marrying
Snapper and wanted to tell Snapper she was pregnant, in hopes of breaking his engagement
to Chris. Liz Foster, Snapper's mother, found out instead. She tried to help Sally,
counseled her, and Sally finally decided to marry Pierre Roulland instead, the kind owner
of the restaurant and Sally's employer. Pierre wanted to give her child a name. She
declined at first, then went through with the marriage to Pierre.
A few days before Chris and Snapper were to be wed, and after Sally had already eloped
with Pierre, Snapper overheard a conversation between his mother and Sally and learned he
was the father of Sally's baby.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming marriage. Even Lauralee Brooks,
the second daughter of Stuart and Jennifer Brooks, managed to arrive home for the big
event after spending several years in Europe at college. The jealousy between Laurie and
Leslie had been growing deeper and deeper ever since Leslie needed so much attention as a
child, and it was no different now.
Lauralee took a job on her father's newspaper, working closely with Brad Eliot.
Snobbish and immature, Laurie set her sights on Brad, even though Leslie had told her in
confidence how much she loved Brad. But Laurie used this information to twist the truth
and to try and win Brad for herself. At every opportunity, Laurie would attempt to
undermine Leslie and Brad's relationship, failing to deliver important messages from one
to the other. She fed Leslie lies that Brad had said about her, and told Brad that Leslie
only thought of him as a good friend, and that she could never love a man since her career
came first. Soon Laurie had Leslie believing that Brad was losing interest in her, and
Brad believing that Leslie's career as a concert pianist would suffer if her pursued her.
Snapper and Chris started their life together in a small apartment. Although Chris now
feared sex with any man, Snapper showed such patience and understanding during their first
uneasy weeks of marriage that Chris got over her hang-ups. One day Chris found herself
pregnant, and Snapper wasn't too pleased about it. Knowing they didn't have much money, he
was worried about being able to continue his career in medicine if there was another mouth
to feed.
Jill was happily living in her fantasy world at the Chancellor Estate,
dreaming of the days she would have the same type of life. Mrs. Chancellor was kind to
Jill, and Jill tried to be understanding about Kay's drinking problem. She knew Kay was
not happy, and realized her life with her husband was a farce. But Jill continued to enjoy
the many pleasures the estate could offer.
Phillip Chancellor became interested in helping Jill and easing the
burden of taking care of his alcoholic wife. Slowly, Jill found a kind and understanding
man, and Phillip found a sweet, innocent woman. Although from different backgrounds, they
were falling in love. They fought it at first, but eventually the struggle ended in their
hopes of a future together.
Jill and Phillip's love was growing, but they kept it a secret from everyone. Brock
Reynolds, Kay's estranged son from her first marriage, returned to his mother's
home. He was a handsome exotic young man who had recently given up his bad ways, including
a sex and drugs trip with Laurie Brooks while the two were living in
Paris. Brock was distressed at the condition his mother had fallen into. He wanted to help
her, and tried to make her learn to rely on God for guidance. Brock was also enticed by
the lovely Jill. But Jill only had eyes for Phillip.
