Remember When - 1982 In 1982, Paul and April Williams broke up. April moved to New York with her long-lost sister, Barbara, because she was certain the change of scenery would be good for their daughter, Heather. April asked Paul for the divorce and he agreed so long as Heather would never forget him. Paul joined the police department. His father, Carl, already on the force got himself into some trouble when he got too close to breaking up a vice racket. Carl was framed and later suspended from the force. Captain Frank Lewis thought Carl's case was related to police corruption so he asked Paul to infiltrate the mob. Paul staged a falling-out with his family and went undercover. Paul and Andy Richards both took jobs working for Tony DiSalvo who ran the Golden Torch bar. The bar was headquarters for Pete Walker's prostitution ring. Paul met Cindy Lake, one of Tony's babes, and befriended her thinking she would give up Pam Warren, another prostitute, who framed his father. As it turned out, Paul fell in love with Cindy who would do anything for him. Cindy begged Paul to leave town when Walker put out a hit on him. Paul managed to get the mob leader to spring Cindy from her life as a whore and promised Cindy they would spend time together once he had solved the case. Meantime, Paul's mother, Mary, had discovered a lump in her breast and went into the hospital for surgery. Captain Lewis told Paul who went to the hospital and left a rosary with her has she slept. Mary later woke up after dreaming her son had been there and was surprised to find the rosary. She also refused to sign a consent form to have a mastectomy should the lump in her breast be found cancerous. A biopsy proved it was not. Pete Walker ordered Paul to kill Pam to keep her quiet so he took Pam to his mother's home where she hid until placed in protective police custody. When Paul couldn't prove he had killed Pam, Pete ordered him killed. As 1983 rolled around Pam wound up dead. Paul freaked. Pam was the one person who could free his dad. The mob thought Paul had killed Pam and welcomed him to the family. Fearing Cindy might be next to die he asked her to leave town. She refused. Meantime, Captain Lewis has been wounded, went into a coma, came out of the coma and had a heart attack which sent him back into a coma. The editor of the Chronicle, Stuart Brooks wrote an editorial about Paul's mob connections and Cindy went back to working the streets. For months Paul continued working undercover. While this was going on Mary Williams was kidnapped by the mob and Carl worked out a settlement in which he would exchange Paul for Mary. In a shocking development, Alex, who just happened to be a crooked cop, and Pete shot and killed each other. Mary was rescued and reunited with Carl and Paul. Cindy came forward to testify against the mob and Paul proposed to her. Tony DiSalvo later turned up with a tape showing Nikki Newman stripping and a look-alike named Boobsie having sex making it appear to be Nikki. Nikki didn't want Victor to find out so she tried seducing Tony with a marriage proposal hoping he'd turn the tape over to her as a wedding gift. Paul was still trying to expose the mob and urged Nikki not to go through with her plan. After the wedding Tony went to fetch the tape and ran into Paul and Andy. Tony pulled a gun and was about to fire at Paul when Cindy popped out of the woodwork and took the bullet. A dude working with Paul and Andy named Jazz shot Tony dead. In 1984 Paul would marry Lauren Fenmore. Jack Abbott denied he ever demanded sex from Jill Foster to sort of enhance Jill's position at Jabot but Jill sued him anyway for one-million dollars. Knowing she'd never be able to prove her case, Jill managed to settle the case for ten-thousand. Meanwhile, Patty Williams was seeing Jack and her parents didn't like it. To celebrate her eighteenth birthday, Patty gave her virginity to Jack. As a reward, Jack promised Patty would become a top Jabot model. Mary Williams was very upset when Patty moved in with Jack. So that Mary would stop whining about living in sin, Jack proposed to Patty. As a wedding gift, John Abbott made his son the president of Jabot. Patty asked Ashley Abbott to be the maid of honor and Traci Abbott agreed to be a bridesmaid. The day before the wedding, Jack had too much to drink and spent the night with another Jabot model, Diane Jenkins. Ashley found Jack and Diane in bed, tossed Jack in the shower to sober him up, told Diane to take a hike and told Jack if he ever did anything to hurt Patty she would make sure his butt got kicked out of Jabot. Diane wasn't about to be put off so easily. She used the night with Jack to her advantage by warning Jack if he didn't make her the number one model at Jabot she would blow the whistle. Jack signed Diane up for the summer ad campaign and at the same time managed to sign Julia Newman who had become a leading fashion designer. It wasn't long before John Abbott became concerned with how Jack was running Jabot. Brewing about the problem one day, Jill moved in and soon John found himself falling in love. When Jack found out he did everything to break them up including paying Diane to find another woman for his father. Nothing worked until Jack told daddy about Jill's son, Phillip. John was outraged that Jill hadn't told him she had a child. But, Jill told John she didn't want to burden him with the story of how Phillip Chancellor died. John was so impressed with Jill's honesty he proposed marriage. Upset, Jack began searching for his mother, Dina, who had abandoned the family years earlier. When that plan didn't work, Jack snookered Katherine Chancellor into telling Ashley that Jill was trying to get her claws on the Chancellor fortune via a paternity suit. Ashley refused to get involved. Jill's mother, Liz Foster, agreed to be the matron of honor. After the honeymoon, Jack welcomed them both to the family. Like most married people in Genoa City, Patty grew tired of Jack. For one thing, she was tired of living at the Abbott house. Patty wanted a family but Jack threatened to get a vasectomy. 1982 - Living at the Newman ranch, Nikki Newman was trying to get Victor Newman back into her bed. Unfortunately, Victor wanted to fix Nikki up with a younger stud and arranged a date with architect Kevin Bancroft who was working for Victor at the time. Nikki went along with the plan thinking it would make Victor jealous. When Bancroft found out Nikki had been a stripper he told Nikki she wouldn't fit into his high class world. Nikki told Victor she was really in love with him so Victor had sex with her as a one-time deal only. While this was going on, Katherine Chancellor was helping Jerry Cashman, the owner of the Bayou who hired Nikki as a stripper, with some gambling debt problems. Katherine wanted to marry Cashman but he was killed by some upset creditors. Nikki and Katherine cried on each others shoulders over their losses. It wasn't long before Nikki discovered she was pregnant. Victor declared the baby was Bancroft's so Kevin proposed to Nikki. Before the wedding, Kevin's parents arrived in town. They forbid their son from marrying Nikki. Kevin's mother even tried to buy Nikki off but the couple got married. Soon, Nikki grew tired of Kevin and asked for a divorce. Katherine told her to tell Victor the baby she was carrying was his. Victor told Nikki again he wanted nothing to do with her. He was more interested in Lorie Brooks whom Victor was showering with gifts. The only gift Lorie wanted was Prentiss Industries and if Victor really loved her he'd give the company Victor owned to her before the wedding. Amazingly, Victor did just that. On their wedding day, Lorie was a no show! Meantime, it was learned that Kevin Bancroft's mother was having problems. She had just learned that her husband had once had an affair with Katherine and out of the blue, the man was hot for Katherine again. As luck would have it, Kevin was injured in a construction site accident. To give Kevin the will to live, Nikki told him she'd stay with him for the rest of their lives and - oh yeah, the baby is Victor's. Kevin confronted Victor who said he couldn't be a daddy because he had a vasectomy. Kevin's mother told Nikki to give Kevin up or she would go public. Frustrated, Nikki left Genoa City. Victor went to see his doctor and learned, yes indeed, he could be a father. After some time had passed, Nikki returned with her baby girl named after Kevin's mother's husband's mother, Victoria. Victor convinced Katherine to tell Nikki that Kevin was the father. Nikki was shocked but decided to move back in with Kevin even though she didn't love him. The Mob Wanting
