Remember When - 2000

Jill Abbott has never really believed that Mackenzie Browning is Katherine Sterling's granddaughter. As the year started out Jill had flown to St. Louis where a private detective was hired to dig up dirt on Browning's mother, Amanda. When Jill returned to Genoa City she learned from Brittany Hodges that her rapidly aged son, Billy, had gotten drunk. Jill asked Billy why he drinks so much but Billy didn't have an answer. He apparently didn't know why when he first arrived in Genoa City he seemed to have a problem with alcohol but the problem disappeared almost as suddenly as it had appeared.

On the business front, Jabot was about to embark on a serious financial crisis. The May loan payment was due and Jill told the board members she had a bad feeling about Ashley Abbott hanging around with Victor Newman. In addition, Jill announced Brittany Hodges would be the new Glow by Jabot spokesperson. However, Hodges never once spoke out.

Jill took Hodges to California's Rodeo Drive to purchase a dress for Walnut Grove Academy's freshman prom hoping the fancy threads would cause Hodges to be named prom queen. It was all for not as Katherine Sterling had summoned Lauren Fenmore who stopped by the Chancellor Estate on a return trip from Paris with an array of gowns picked out just for Mackenzie.

Mac was named prom queen and Jill demanded a re-count even before such counts would become all the rage nationwide in a contested Presidential election. On the warpath, Jill read Mac the riot act. Stay away from her son or else!

Jack Abbott stuck his nose into the situation when he warned Jill that getting on Mac's case would alienate Billy.

Back on the business scene, Jill pleaded with Victor to stop the bleeding. Hadn't the great man put the Abbott family though enough hell? Jill turned around and asked Ashley not to vote Brad Carlton onto the board.

After learning from her private detective that Mac's birth certificate was in storage somewhere she flew back to St. Louis and had planned to call Amanda anonymously but changed her mind, returned to Genoa City and warned Mac again to stay away from her son.

Jill took time off to attend a seminar in San Francisco. Upon her return she called a board meeting hoping to prevent Phyllis Summers from getting in at Jabot.

More squabbles with Billy broke out with the young whippersnapper becoming so rude as to accuse his mother of trying to control his life. Jill turned to Jack for help when Billy stopped talking to her. When Jack was of little good Jill demanded Mac tell why Billy wasn't talking. Hitting another dead end, Jill was attacked by Katherine with a fruit bowl. Even though she was hit over the head with a solid piece of crystal, Jill sustained no injury.

Jill was further frustrated when she wasn't invited to Ashley's wedding but was invited to Nina Webster's for Thanksgiving.

The year ended when Jill was slapped by Nikki Newman. Newman and Carlton wanted seats on the board but never got them. Jill was certain Newman had a conflict on interest and wanted to take steps to neutralize her. Just before Christmas, Jill and Katherine got into a squabble over Christmas trees when each wanted their own trees in the main living room.

Jack Abbott sought to obtain a credit line increase for the Jabot Glow cosmetics line. One day he discovered a small lump on one testicle. While the lab tests came back negative Jack made a sperm deposit just to be sure. Jack and Nikki cooked up a plan to make Victor Newman jealous. Jack offered Nikki a job at Jabot. The fact that Nikki had no experience wasn't a problem. Nikki quickly taught herself how to use a computer. Meantime, Jack had discovered that Ashley was pregnant and asked Christian Page about it when Page flew in from Paris. Page wasn't much help.

Jack suddenly realized one day he might not get the needed loan extension and warned Ashley their family could be torn apart - again. He offered Phyllis Summers a job as a webmaster but she told him to shove it. Next, Jack tried to get rid of Brad and voted with Jill to get Carlton out.

As the days wore on, Phyllis found herself wanting Jack "in every way" but Jack told her to buzz off. One day certain events caused Jack and Nikki to share a kiss but nothing grew from it.

Little brother Billy asked Jack about the birds and the bees one day prompting Jack to agree to help Billy experience his first love.

Phyllis wormed her way onto the Jabot staff and Jack by now wanted her to stay.

Near the end of the year Jack went house hunting for Ashley. He picked out a nice home for her just down the street from the Abbott residence but Ashley turned it down preferring instead to live at her new husband's home. Jack was Carlton's best man at the wedding because Carlton has no male friends.

Jack also warned Jill she was making Billy life a living hell and to issue an apology to Mac and Billy. Jack also suggested Ashley name her new baby, Jacqueline.

The situation with Phyllis flip-flopped again and as the year wound down Jack was trying to gain her trust. Jack also warned Victor Newman to stay away from Ashley.

Ashley Abbott's year surrounded the birth of her baby and subsequent marriage to Brad Carlton. As the year got underway, Ashley met at the Lodge Restaurant with Christian Page. After apparently sleeping with Page in one of the restaurant's upstairs bedrooms, Ashley said that Page is not the man she met while aboard the Love Boar cruise. The two made a deal designed to make Jack Abbott think Ashley has a man in her life.

After obtaining a pregnancy kit Ashley discovered she was pregnant. "I'm going to be a mommy," were her famous words at the time. One day Ashley doubled over in pain. Pills were found in her purse which Ashley claimed were vitamin B6. Later, she would tell the family that she's having Christian Page's baby.

Ashley offered Brad Carlton a job at Jabot as an independent consultant and told him she's pregnant. She later had dinner with Victor and told him that not only is she pregnant but she's fallen in love with him again! She and Victor jetted away to Maine where the dined on lobster. Upon their return, Ashley told Jack to ask Victor for the money needed to keep Jabot afloat.

When she first felt the baby move, Ashley had a dizzy spell and later told Victor if he's going to help Jabot to put it in writing.

Meantime, Brad had become very interested in Ashley and worried about her pregnancy. Ashley was pleased to have such a pal in her life. She also was informed about the problems between Mac and Billy.

Meantime, Victor repeatedly told Ashley how much he loves her. Brad got chewed out when he asked Ashley who the father of her baby is. Ashley took time out to purchase a "going home" dress for her pal, Dr. Olivia Winters. Winters had been in the hospital clinging to life when she came down with another of Genoa City's infamous mystery diseases.

Ashley also asked Nikki Newman to pull strings with Victor to help get Brad into Jabot and later Ashley kicked Brad to the curb when she became even hotter for Victor. But, upon realizing there is no future with Victor, Ashley buried the hatchet with Nikki and spent the night with Brad. She wanted to tell Brad everything but couldn't get over that she had been hurt by Victor again.

Agreeing to stay with Brad, she suggested a Jabot board seat for him in exchange for Brad's hospitality. She even suggested a board seat for Billy Abbott which was easily accepted with Billy giving his proxy to John Abbott.

As the daze drifted Jack and Ashley figured out that Victor was behind the plot to overthrown Jabot. Ashley read the riot act to Victoria again and then told the board of directors of her pregnancy. Soon, John, Ashley and Jack confirmed the shocking truth. Newman had in fact tricked them. The Abbott's agreed to allow Brad and Nikki to join the firm.

Jill wanted Carlton to help resolve some of the internal pressure at Jabot and then turned right around to remind Nikki, "You got zero business experience as a stripper."

Ashley one day announced her baby would be due in 6 weeks and received a silver baby rattle from Victor. In addition, she accepted a ring from Brad but wasn't sure if she were really over Victor. But, she moved ahead with wedding plans and didn't invite her sister and Brad's former wife, Traci.

Anxious to live forever with Brad as "a family" Ashley said she would simply tell Traci about the wedding. On the night of the wedding Ashley was thinking about Victor when she developed stomach pain. As luck would have it, Victor had stopped by for a final goodbye and rushed her to the hospital where the baby was born and the wedding took place.

A few days later, Brad took his bride home and named the baby Abby. They would later repeatedly praise each other for being great parents. Ashley assured Brad the biological father would never know about the baby. Brad announced his intention to adopt the child. Something Ashley didn't want to talk about in public.

John Abbott returned from New York and got the big news about some key employee changes. His first reaction was that Nikki Newman would be a security risk and demanded to know why he wasn't told about Jabot's money problems.

John and Jill cut their son some slack. Billy had been grounded for being a little snot but the parents caved in when Billy said he would volunteer at the local homeless shelter. Jill was pleased that her son was, "back on track."

When John learned that Nikki wanted to be a board member he told her it was out of the question. John also couldn't understand why someone like Phyllis Summers would want to work in, "Hicksville." Learning of Ashley's plan to marry his other daughter's former husband, John said the sooner Ashley got married the better. John was also upset that Phyllis attended the wedding as Jack's guest. As the year wound down, John was amazed to see all the "hits" the Jabot Glow web site was getting. The old man spent Christmas with his whittled down family at the home of Brad Carlton along his daughter Ashley, son Jack and grandson Billy.

Victor Newman was secretly buying up Jabot loan notes. The great man also made a deal with one of his former wives. Diane Jenkins would sell the penthouse suite apartment but would stay on as a "guest" for three months.

When word filtered down about his daughter's stalker, Victor scolded his kids for not telling him sooner and decided to move to the ranch. He also took over the reins of Rash & Sassy Cosmetics until the stalker was caught.

During this time Victor made a call to the sperm lab and was surprised to hear his sperm was back. "I thought it was gone," Newman said.

Ready to spring his trap on Jack, Victor first gave his blessing to Ashley's decision to become a single mother. He wanted Ashley to move in with him saying he would legally evict Jenkins if necessary. Before the trap was sprung Victor learned that the Abbotts had paid off the loan. He ordered right hand man Neil Winters to find out where they got the money. During another chat with Ashley, Victor said he had grown tired of trying to get control of Jabot.

When Victor learned his son, Nick, wanted to run a coffee shop he told Nikki their son "needs his head examined." Victor demoted Nick who was working at Newman Enterprises at the time. Nick quit. The stalker captured, Victoria Newman moved into the penthouse with her daddy after a short stay at a health spa. Victor warned Diane not to make waves and warned Victoria not to trust Diane.

Minnesota Governor, Jesse Ventura, dropped into Victor's office one day. The two discussed the possibility of running for President in 2004.

Still a thorn in his side, Victor ordered attorney John Silva to get Brad Carlton. Victor later saw Carlton rubbing Ashley's belly. During a squabble with Diane, Victor ended up rushing her to the hospital when she doubled over with pain. Fortunately, Diane's condition wasn't serious. When Victoria asked if Diane's baby is his, Victor said no and later instructed Ryan McNeil to get Victoria, "Back on track."

Victor was nice enough to have takeout food from the RoadKill Cafe sent to Diane at the hospital and then threatened Jabot. Get rid of Brad or else. Carlton had signed a non-compete agreement and Victor intended to enforce it.

Victor had a fit when Diane told him that he is the father of her baby. Victor vowed to make her pay and warned her not to tell anyone.

Victor remained intent to sue Jabot in order to get Brad but called off the law suit after a tender moment with Nikki.

Victor left town to get his head clear. A letter from the sperm lab had left him confused. Nikki found out when Victor called the lab again making demands. The lab assured him his sperm is still good. When Victor returned he questioned Diane about how she had gotten her hands on his sperm an then said he would not be kicking Diane out because his family is already torn apart. Newman did say there would be a paternity test when Diane's baby is born.

Diane aggravated the situation when she announced plans to turn the guest room into a nursery.

Victor's life was further complicated when he learned Cassie Newman had come down with a mystery illness. Newman immediately put medical experts on alert and flew in a specialist by private jet.

When Victoria hired Phyllis as a web master Victor took steps to lock her out of the main computer system.

To make Cassie Newman's Halloween the best ever, Victor arranged a special flight aboard the Newman jet for her.

Near the end of the year Victor charged Nikki with betrayal when he learned she put up 35-million dollars to save Jabot. Living at the ranch again during Cassie's crisis, Victor said Nikki was a traitor and prepared to move back to the penthouse. He was also worried that Diane was up to no good when he saw Leanna Love hanging around. Although his children begged him to stay just one more day so that he could be with the family on Christmas, Victor refused.

Nick Newman was ordered to sell the coffee shop by his daddy but he refused saying he could care less what Victor wanted even if it meant his seat on the Newman Enterprises board of directors was taken away. As promised, Victor yanked the seat but Nick became more determined. He announced Newman Rocks would soon go global.

When Nick found out his sister was seeing Ryan McNeil again he ordered Victoria not to become, "the other woman" and then discovered a stalker was on the loose. Convinced his sister was in no immediate danger, Nick and wife Sharon went to Milwaukee to arrange the opening of Newman Rocks #2. Upon their return, Sharon wanted to get involved with the McNeil mess but Nick told her to stay out of it. "Lives could be ruined," Nick warned and then announced he would like to adopt Cassie.

Abandoned at birth by her mother, Cassie was worried at first. She didn't know how to tell the kids at school that Nick Newman is her daddy. A big party was planned. Attorney Michael Baldwin got wind of the plan and was going to inform Cassie's adopted mother, Alice Johnson, until Nick ordered him not to.

Trina Davidson was hired to manage the Milwaukee coffee shop and Nick tried to ban Larry 'Wartman' Warton. When Sharon began acting weird about the adoption Nick told her to get professional help. She never did. Before the year ended, the adoption was final and Nick announced Newman Rocks #3 would open at the start of the new year.

When Matt Clark applied for a job Nick hired him without doing a background check and didn't recognize Clark due to some excellent plastic surgery.

Nikki Newman was caught in Diane Jenkins apartment with something stuffed under her coat. It was thought she had stolen Victor's sperm which Diane was holding hostage in a cryogenic freezer. Nikki became hot for Brad Carlton and even begged him to have sex with her at the ranch. She didn't care if the kids might see. Brad wasn't interested in a one night stand. He wanted to marry Nikki.

Nikki told Jack Abbott how she got Victor's sperm back to the lab confirming that she in fact had taken the sperm from Jenkins. But how Jenkins would later get pregnant with what she thought was Victor's sperm was cause for concern.

Repeatedly saying she had moved on with her life, Nikki learned overnight how to use the Internet and went to New York City where she attended a home office seminar. Returning to Genoa City she told Brad she had been offered a job in New York.

Brad told Nikki they might have better opportunities at home. Jabot was in financial trouble. Nikki said she had 35-million dollars. If Brad tossed in an equal amount they could get their foot in the door at Jabot. Jack Abbott had been hoping to get the money from Katherine Sterling but Nikki got to he old woman first and told her not to give Jack a loan.

As soon as the deal was done, Nikki assumed it meant she would be a board member. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. Her first day on the job complete, Nikki took the next few days off. When she finally attended a board meeting Nikki's first order of business was to remind Jill Abbott, "You came a long way in this company on your back."

Learning her daughter was being stalked, Nikki pleaded with Victoria to move back to the ranch and then told Nick and Sharon she had a job. Victor Newman took the news well at first although he did think Jack Abbott was using her.

It took some time but Nikki finally figured out that Victor was interested in Ashley Abbott again. She wasted no time accusing Abbott of, "sleeping with the enemy" and got slapped across the face.

When Victoria Newman found out her mother was working for Jabot she was charged with betrayal. As the year came to an end Nikki would whine about that "sleaze ball" Diane Jenkins and go on a trip to Switzerland. Returning home, Nikki learned Jenkins was pregnant and pestered Victor about who the father might be. She predicted bad times ahead and warned Brad that Ashley wasn't over Victor when she heard Brad planned to marry Ashley. Nikki received an invitation to the wedding, said she wouldn't attend but did.

During a spur of the moment, Nikki and Victor had sex for old times sake. When Nikki found out that Victor was with Ashley on the night before the wedding she demanded Victor tell her what was going on. Victor said he was simply saying goodbye. Nikki took time out to tell Diane she would never get Victor and then told Victor she had put up the money to save Jabot. Victor charged her with betrayal again and make plans to move off the ranch.

Nikki and Brad also came up with idea to market a new wrinkle cream. Nikki flew to Paris to discuss the marketing strategy. When she returned, she overheard Victor telling the children he couldn't bring himself to spend Christmas with the family because of what Nikki had done.

Victoria Newman started the year off by throwing money at the stalker problem. Thinking Larry 'Wartman' Warton was the person after her, Victoria offered him $500 per week to stop. For a short period, Victoria had a body guard but gave the man a week off with pay and he was never seen again.

Victoria caught Gary Dawson in her office one day sniffing her scarf but didn't think it was the least bit odd and even shared a picnic lunch with Dawson at the Newman tree house. But one day Victoria freaked out when she poked her nose into Dawson's bedroom. One the wall were photo's and newspaper clippings of herself. Unfortunately, Victoria didn't get away in time and was kidnapped.

On the case, detective Paul Williams took a look at Dawson's shrine and when it was confirmed that Victoria was missing ordered helicopters into the air. Meantime, Victor Newman had threatened to rip Dawson's heart out and he too tried throwing money at the problem. Newman spent the night at the ranch in order to calm a frantic and bawling, Nikki Newman.

Detective Clueless set up an aerial command post at the ranch unaware that Victoria was just a few feet away in the tree house. As Victoria pleaded for her life, Dawson flipped in and out of reality. It was revealed that long ago Dawson had been spurned by a woman and never was able to get over it. Dawson was eventually caught thanks only to the quick thinking of Nick Newman. However, Clueless was dubbed a "hero" which was substantiated by Mary Williams.

Dawson went to jail and Victoria went to the hospital for a few days. Upon her release Victoria began having bad flashbacks. She went away to a health spa for one week and returned good as new.

Victoria didn't know her former husband, Ryan McNeil, had gone to Seattle to resolve a labor dispute for Newman Enterprises. She showed up one day in Ryan's hotel room to see how he was holding up. Ryan was having martial problems with his space case wife at the time but didn't want to turn to Victoria for comfort.

Victoria returned home and began having stalker flashbacks. She warned her daddy he was tearing their family apart and then ripped into her mother. "This is the worse thing you could have done to me," she spewed accusing Nikki of betraying the family.

Victoria got into the mess with Brad Carlton and warned him not to meddle in her mother's life. Victoria even demanded Victor take legal action against Carlton or she would hire her own lawyer but she never did.

As the year moved along Victoria learned Diane Jenkins was pregnant and blasted Jenkins for not knowing who the father of her baby is.

Victoria turned her focus to business. She wanted to hire a female touring band to promote Rash & Sassy but it never happened. After dinner one night with Ryan she had a bad flashback and talked about seeking professional help.

Gary Dawson was sent to the prison at Racine. Victoria and Ryan made a trip to the joint one day when Victoria got an apology letter from Gary. During the visit Victoria attacked Gary and had to be retrained. After swapping some serious spit with Ryan she moved into his apartment. But, when Mrs. McNeil returned from London she moved into a hotel and became upset that Ryan was trying to put his marriage back together. Victoria also warned Nina Webster that Tricia McNeil is a dangerous woman. In fact, almost everyone in Genoa City was warned about Mrs. McNeil.

When Cassie Newman came down with what was thought to be Tuberculosis, Victoria moved back to the ranch for the duration of the "crisis" and beyond. She again turned her focus to business this time determined to get Rash & Sassy on the Internet.

Near the end of the year Victoria would repeatedly tell Ryan the best way to solve his marriage problems would be to move out of his apartment. She even offered Ryan a place at the ranch but Ryan wasn't interested. Victoria became distracted again when she learned her mother put up the money to save Jabot. After more squabbled with her mother, Victoria turned to Carter Mills (AKA Matt Clark) for help getting Tricia McNeil out of Ryan's life and warned Ryan yet again that his wife is a nut case.

Sharon Newman meantime was concerned that Mrs. McNeil had not been charged with a crime after the death of local mechanic and good friend, Tony Viscardi. Sharon sought the advice of Christine 'The Bug' Williams who wasn't much help. Upset that the Bug wasn't helping, Sharon dismissed the Bug as the family lawyer.

Sharon ran to the cops demanding to know the status of the Viscardi case. She told the cops she knew Viscardi's death was no accident. That Mrs. McNeil ran him down with her gas-guzzling SUV. Unfortunately, the cops said there wasn't any solid evidence.

Sharon put her concerns aside and began planning a big party for her daughter, Cassie, who was about to be officially adopted. While she should have been excited, Sharon became worried that her family might fall apart. During the party she broke down bawling and later had the nerve to tell Nikki Newman that her decision to work at Jabot could destroy the family.

Soon, Sharon was enrolling Cassie, a kid who should be attending grade school, at Walnut Grove Academy, a high school. During the registration process she ran into Nina Webster who was registering her son, another who should only be in junior-high, Phillip Chancellor.

Sharon immediately slipped back into worry mode after receiving a phone call from the family doctor about Cassie. During the wait to see the doctor she warned Carter Mills about Tricia McNeil and later wondered what the red spot on Cassie's arm was. When Mills touched her one day she got a cold chill. She had not yet figured out that Carter was the slug who tried to rape her years ago.

After weeks of sweating, bawling and whining, the doctor determined that Cassie's problem was psychosomatic. Whew - another tragedy averted.

As the year wound down Sharon had the opportunity to have a heart-to-heart with Victor. She told her father-in-law that Diane Jenkin's baby will be lucky to have him as a father.

Sharon also told Carter Mills about Mrs. McNeil driving record.

Cassie Newman couldn't stop asking, "When are we going to be a family?" She spent endless hours writing her new name and invited grandpa Newman and others to the pool/adoption party. Victor never showed up. When the adoption was final Cassie proclaimed, "We're going to be a family forever!"

Cassie underwent a series of bizarre tests for TB. While waiting for the results she developed a cough and one night called her surrogate grandmother, Millie Johnson. Millie made the kid a promise not to tell anyone about Cassie's cough but it was the first thing she blurted out during a phone call with Sharon. Millie showed up in Genoa City one day, met Carter Mills and while she got a bad vibe didn't figure out that Mills is really Matt Clark.

Noah Newman was almost four as the year got underway but it wasn't until the end of the year that the kid was able to speak a complete sentence. Sharon kept the kid sedated most of the year pulling him out of bed only for special occasions.

Brad Carlton wanted to become part of Jabot Cosmetics. It was an idea that Jack Abbott was opposed to. Although he's heard it a hundred times before, Carlton received a "you will pay" warning from Victor Newman when Newman learned Carlton planned to work at Jabot. Carlton had a noncompete clause in his contract with Newman which should have prevented him from working for 2.5 years.

While waiting for the job to come through, Carlton became a day trader. Jill Abbott offered Brad "the opportunity of a lifetime" which he turned down. But later, Brad joined forces with Nikki Newman. They had hoped to become board members at Jabot. Brad tried to make a deal with Victor by paving the way to Ashley Abbott's heart for Victor. The great man wasn't interested.

Brad came up with an idea for a new wrinkle cream, ran it past Ashley and asked Michael Baldwin for legal advice. Thinking he was onto a fountain of youth, Brad thought about quitting Jabot but when the board voted to keep him at Jabot he reconsidered. The vote hinged on Ashley who voted in Brad's favor.

And it came to pass that Brad announced he wanted to be a father to Ashley's baby. Brad hinted marriage and then was granted a seat on the board at Jabot. Nikki didn't like the idea of Brad marrying Ashley but that didn't stop him from pestering Ashley about it. Brad purchased an engagement ring from a traveling jeweler, presented the ring to Ashley and proclaimed they were meant to be together.

Brad continued pressuring Ashley for a wedding date. Ashley wanted Brad to ask Jack to be his best man and Jack agreed. Brad overheard a conversation between Ashley and Christian Page but didn't get it. Page wanted Ashley to tell who the father of her baby is but she wouldn't say.

Ashley finally agreed to marry Brad. For days he would repeatedly ask if she really loved him. On the night before their wedding, Ashley was rushed to the hospital by Victor Newman when her water broke. Brad flipped when he walked into Ashley hospital room and saw Victor holding her baby. At that time, Brad vowed to make Victor pay for messing with Ashley's head.

The wedding was held at the hospital. Brad later noticed baby Abby's birth certificate listed him as the father. Concerned the biological might cause trouble one day, Brad pressured Ashley to let him adopt the child.

Diane Jenkins was in a panic. Would her former husband move back into the penthouse suite apartment with her? Diane had arranged to have Victor Newman's sperm sample moved from the lab to the apartment where she kept it in a cryogenic freezer. One day she discovered the closet door where the sperm was located ajar and suspected Nikki Newman had stolen it. Newman admitted she had been in the closet. Jenkins contacted a private detective to find the sperm and one day the sperm reappeared at the lab. Determined she better use it while she can, Jenkins had herself inseminated and soon became pregnant.

Excited, Diane called Victor aboard the Newman jet but hung up when Ashley answered the phone. A few days later Diane told Ashley and Brad Carlton she was pregnant with Victor's baby. And still alter told Victoria Newman, Nick Newman and Jack Abbott.

Hoping to entice Victor, Diane cooked his favorite meal, chicken piccatta, after getting cooking tips from Gina Roma. During the meal Victor gave Diane two weeks to move out. Diane ran straight to Michael Baldwin looking for a way to "make that bitch" pay for taking Victor away. Diane was certain Nikki wanted Victor back and was shocked when Victoria announced she was moving into the apartment.

After a shouting match with Victoria, Diane was rushed to the hospital by Victor. She and her baby were okay. Diane told Victor how she got pregnant. The great man wasn't pleased. Diane also asked Baldwin how she could gain money and power from the situation. Baldwin refused to represent her in a legal case.

As the year wound down, Victoria moved out and Diane made a deal with Leanna Love to turn over exclusive rights to her story. She told Victor she had not told anyone of her pregnancy but almost everyone knew by this time. Diane confessed to Baldwin the baby is Victor's and then moved forward with a plan to redesign the penthouse guest room.

Leanna Love told Diane about another former Newman wife, Hope Adams Newman Wilson. Diane was planning a trip to Kansas as the year ended. Diane also whined for days how Victor had abandoned her and her baby and told Leanna she would give her a photo of her baby as soon as it was born.

Diane also overheard a conversation between Victor and Neil Winters. She told Brad but he wasn't interested. Diane went again to Baldwin. This time she told him she wanted Ashley Abbott "to pay" and later told Ashley about Victor's plan to take over Jabot. Diane asked Victor if she could stay at the penthouse as a sort of "girl Friday" and then told Jack that she saved Jabot. Diane was planning to move and had even made a bid on a home but Victor told her she could stay at the apartment.

As the year ended, Diane rented a limousine and drove to Kansas. She found Hope Adams Newman Wilson waiting at the Central Diner. Hope didn't want to talk at first but after rubbing Diane's pregnant belly eventually told Diane that former husband, Victor Newman, didn't abandon his son, Victor Jr. That was all Diane wanted to hear. Certain that Victor would never abandon her or her unborn child, Diane returned to Genoa City.

Meantime, Victor was making arrangements to have the penthouse bugged.

Marissa Barton continued as Diane's personal butt wiper during 2000. Marissa was a good little employee. She reported to Diane how she saw Brad and Ashley holding hands and other tid-bits. As the year ended, Marissa had taken a part-time job at the Clueless Detective & Alarm Company with Diane's blessing.

Mary Williams had only one thing on her mind in 2000. She wanted a new grandchild. Suspecting her daughter-in-law 9The Bug) was acting strange because there was no baby in her life, Mary was overjoyed when her son (Paul) and the Bug went to a fertility clinic.

Mary was upset when she found out Michael Baldwin could ruin everything. She visited Paul on his birthday (9.13) and told the Bug to seize the "experience of a life time." She also reminded Paul that the Bug's biological clock was ticking.

Mary charged Baldwin with being "a dangerous man" and urged him to derail a planned business trip to Hong Kong the Bug was planning. But after Thanksgiving at Nina Webster's, Mary gave her blessing to the trip.

The Bug and Clueless argued most of the year about the Bug leaving Legal Aid and working with Baldwin. The Bug's Legal Aid secretary, Gail Wallace, quit to work for the Bug at Baldwin & Williams. Soon, the Bug was complaining about sore boobs and then told Nina Webster she didn't want a baby.

But it wasn't long before the Bug and Clueless were attempting a humping session on an office desk. The Bug whined for a few days about regaining Sharon Newman's trust when Newman dropped her as the family lawyer.

After another pregnancy test the Bug discovered she wasn't pregnant. Clueless whined for weeks their marriage was shaky. The Bug told Baldwin she would go to Hong Kong if Clueless would agree to go too. Clueless refused then changed his mind then changed it back again. As the year ended the Bug was seen at the airport with Baldwin who had driven her there. Clueless showed up but only to say goodbye and that he wasn't giving up on their marriage.

Paul Williams had his sperm counted, informed Nina Webster the Bug had missed a period and told Katherine Sterling he could help find out if Mackenzie Browning were really her granddaughter. Nothing ever came from that one-time conversation. Clueless purchased a pregnancy kit and was heartbroken when the Bug turned to Baldwin for comfort after learning she wasn't pregnant.

The year involved endless whining by Clueless that his wife was putting business before pleasure. He blamed Baldwin for their marriage woes. Threatening to leave town, Clueless wrote the Bug a letter in which he said he wasn't sure their marriage could survive. After more complaining about how much he wants a family, the year came to an end with Clueless excited about going to Hong Kong because of all the Pacific Rim customers he could get. As it turned out, Clueless didn't go on the trip.

Michael Baldwin wanted to start up his own law firm and asked the Bug to join him because the Bug is the best lawyer he knows. After a trip together to Chicago, the Bug joined the firm of Baldwin & Williams. The two lawyers took on a case for Desmond Industries but nothing much came of it. Then they took a hacker case but it too was never concluded. Jabot Cosmetics put Baldwin on retainer just so Baldwin could tell Jack Abbott and Brad Carlton they've got to learn how to get along. During a weird meeting with Mary Williams, Baldwin asked the old woman to pray for him.

During the course of the year Baldwin would warn Victor Newman he didn't have a case against Carlton and urged the Bug to patch up her marriage. Baldwin and Phyllis Summers also had sex in his office and failed to clean up after the deed was done.

Nina Webster had a self-esteem breakdown as the year got underway. Her son, Phillip Chancellor, had aged overnight to a teenager and she met her favorite author, Tomas del Cerro who would later become her mentor and lover. Del Cerro had a slight drinking problem and lost his ability to write

Webster had flashbacks of her stolen baby and wrote a book about the event, Bore To Lose, which was expected to be turned into a movie.

It was hoped the baby story would be resolved by as the year ended it was learned Nina and Tomas would be leaving Genoa City for good. Phillip would be going to live with his grandmother, Jill Abbott.

Phillip Chancellor wanted to go to Seattle to be with Ryan McNeil, the man he was still calling 'dad' as the year kicked off. McNeil told Nina Webster the boy would just be in the way so keep him at home. Rarely seen throughout the year, Phillip spent the summer at a camp in Montana. As the year ended, Phillip returned home and whined his 'dad' wouldn't be attending Thanksgiving dinner at his mother's apartment. Phillip also got word of the Glow house New Year party and was blown away when his grandmother got him an invitation. Phillip revealed he was very interested in Glow girl, Brittany Hodges.

Malcolm Winters was hot for Daisy Mae (Callie Rogers) as the year started as his marriage to Olivia Winters had failed. Malcolm save Daisy from an attack by Trey Stark's goon. Stark and Rogers were married but she hadn't told Malcolm. They didn't want to call the cops because it would put little Nate Hastings through trauma. Malcolm was another of the men in Genoa City who laid claim to children that weren't theirs.

His divorce final, Malcolm whined, "I lost my wife and son" and vowed to fight for visitation rights which he never did. When he learned the truth about Daisy Mae he told her, "You make me sick!"

Daisy eventually left town. It wasn't long before Malcolm became interested in his brother's sister, Dru Winters who had returned from Paris to have sex with her former husband, Neil Winters before going back to Paris. When Malcolm found out he went to Paris to ask why.

Dru's manager, Sid Garber, told Malcolm to stay in Paris until Dru got her personal life "back on track." Things became complicated when it was learned that Olivia would need a bone marrow transplant. Malcolm comforted his "son" and started getting very close to Dru. Malcolm wanted to take Dru to a casino in Illinois when she became depressed over her sister's situation. Malcolm called Dru's assistant ballet instructor for more dancing lessons and told Olivia that being with Dru Winters had been "a good ride."

Malcolm followed Dru to Paris again hoping to convince her they were meant to be but it wasn't. When Malcolm returned to Genoa City he was berated by Olivia who charged Malcolm with being a poor role model for her son and she was going to severely cut back his visitation.

Neil Winters placed the blame for Olivia Winters health problems on his brother, Malcolm. Neil still wasn’t happy that his former wife was pursuing a modeling career even though it was his stubbornness that caused the breakup of their marriage. Neil made sure his brother knew that he had sex with Dru and Dru told her sister! Neil asked Olivia to explore what they mean to each other but when she hinted she wanted to be with him, Neil ignored her.

Neil instructed the family to keep praying until Olivia Winters was out of the woods and hung his head when asked by Victoria Newman to tell what he knows about Brad Carlton. Later, Neil seemed shocked to learn his former wife and brother had sex but made it clear he was over Dru. Near the end of the year Neil told Olivia they can only be pals.

Neil suddenly became concerned that school was starting in late October. He wanted his daughter, Lily Winters, to have a stable environment.

During the year, Neil kissed Victor Newman's butt over and over. He told the great man that Brad Carlton deserved whatever trouble he got, suggested Victor sic the lawyers on Carlton and even squealed on Jack Abbott. Neil saw a contract Victoria Newman put together for Phyllis Summers and didn't approve because Victor thought Summers is a dangerous woman.

When Victor found out that Neil didn’t tell what he knew when he knew it, Victor warned Neil the next screw up would cost him his job. New attorney Alex Perez was hired by Newman Enterprises to work on an HMO case and was to work closely with Neil. When Perez asked Neil to work on the case during the Christmas holiday week, Neil refused.

Olivia 'the butcher' Winters underwent a bone marrow biopsy. When the diagnosis came in it was clear that she had aplastic anemia. Always the bitch, Olivia threatened to pull former husband Malcolm Winters' visitation rights. She sniveled to Neil Winters, "I need to protect my son" and signed papers to revoke the visitation rights.

Later, Olivia learned she would need a bone marrow transfusion but didn’t want her sister to know. She asked Malcolm if he knew Dru and Neil had sex! After another fainting spell, Olivia was told she has aplastic anemia and would need a bone marrow transplant. Worried what would happen should she die, Olivia asked Neil to be little Nate's legal guardian. Neil agreed.

From her hospital bed, Olivia summoned Ashley Abbott and Nate Hastings for what she thought might be a final farewell. Abbott asked her to be her unborn baby's godmother! Success or failure was expected within 7-10 days. Not generating any white blood cells, Olivia’s condition continued going down hill. Near death, Olivia dreamed about Nathan Hastings, another former husband. As Olivia slipped into a coma, Neil Winters pleaded, "Don't leave me!" Little Nate and Malcolm prayed together at the hospital chapel and as Dru Winters prepared to dance for her sister, Olivia's heart stopped beating!

Olivia didn’t die. She did continue dreaming about what Neil might mean to her. Released from the hospital, Olivia was still worried Neil wouldn’t explore his feelings for her. She told Neil the situation with Dru was a blessing in disguise. Olivia was happy when Neil said they should explore their feelings for one another. Olivia took time out to register Nate for school the last week in September and returned to work full time.

Near the end of the year, Olivia was asked to be the matron of honor at the Abbott/Carlton wedding. She invited Neil to escort her and was surprised when Malcolm returned from Paris. She immediately blasted Malcolm for what he did to her son and whined how he was a bad role model for her son. She made it clear to Ashley that Neil would make the perfect role model.

Dru Winters returned from Italy and couldn’t understand why Olivia kept wiping her nose. She knew she wasn’t being told something. Malcolm suspected Dru was still hot for Neil when she moved into Neil’s apartment! It wasn’t long until Dru announced she was returning to Paris because she was tired of Malcolm butting into her personal life. Later, Dru returned to Genoa City and agreed to be tested as bone marrow donor. Told to stay away from children, Dru ignored the warnings at first but later moved into Malcolm's apartment where the two began exchanging body fluids.

Dru and Malcolm Winters couldn’t stop thinking about each other. But Dru was confused, She couldn’t commit to Malcolm. Malcolm admitted he had feelings for Dru all along. Olivia warned Dru to “move on.” After having sex with Malcolm, Dru announced she was giving up her Paris modeling gig. She couldn’t understand why Neil was so upset but continued having sex with Malcolm.

Sid Garber finally kicked Dru to the curb. Her modeling services were no longer needed. But Garber changed his mind when Dru signed a contract and returned to Paris.

Nate Hastings was having nightmares after witnessing the violent attack between his ‘dad’ and Trey Stark’s goon but his mother didn’t give it a second thought. Nate wasn’t heard from much until he slipped into a funk near the end of the year because his 'daddy' wouldn’t be home for Thanksgiving.

Lily Winter's developed chicken pox in 2000 and wondered if her parents would ever get back together so that they could be a family again.

Boo Hoo McNeil (Tricia) got a medical okay to resume sex with Ryan as the year started out. She would later admit to "faking it" for Ryan’s sake and flipped out again when she began hearing Tony Viscardi's voice from the grave. Upon learning that Sharon Newman wanted her charged with killing Viscardi, Boo confronted Sharon. “You are a wicked woman!” she charged and threatened a law suit.

Although claiming, "I'm not crazy!", Boo agreed to have her head shrunk. She pleaded with her sister, Megan Dennison Viscardi, not to leave town but Megan left anyway still grieving over her new husband’s untimely death. Ryan went to one therapy session with his deranged wife and Victoria Newman wasn't pleased. Boo made a plan to be with Ryan “in every way” and even sought love advice from Gina Roma. But, when she caught Ryan in Victoria’ arms she sought comfort from the evil Carter Mills. During a visit with Mills at his apartment, Boo freaked when Mills kissed her and was eventually date raped by Mills!

Boo went home to wash off the evidence and returned to Mills for more. She got advice from Michael Baldwin then ran back to Mills. When Nick Newman came calling on Mills she escaped by the skin of her teeth through a bathroom window and agreed to help Mills seek revenge against Newman.

Keith Dennison arrived in town. He was stunned when Ryan let the cat out of the bag and blamed daughter Megan for Boo's dilemma. After saying goodbye to Megan and Boo, Keith returned to London.

Ryan and wife Boo planned an Aspen ski trip which never happened. Megan Dennison suspected her sister was a nut case. Nina Webster got into the mix when she declared, "She [Boo] killed Tony!" Ryan told Victoria and Nina over and over that his marriage was, "back on track." Boo and Ryan finally had sex. Boo told him how wonderful he was in bed and Ryan said it was the best he's ever had! Ryan told Sharon Newman his wife wouldn't harm a fly and later told Megan his marriage was, "Back on track." Still later, Victoria would tell Ryan twice - she's glad his marriage to Boo is, "Back on track."

In an about face, Ryan began having doubts about his wife's innocence. He ran to Nina seeking help and even whined to Tomas del Cerro about his whacked out wife. Eventually, Boo left Ryan and moved to London.

Ryan phoned London where Keith Dennison stated his daughter didn’t want to talk with him. Ryan found a letter to Victoria from Gary Dawson. He called Victoria's head shrink and asked for permission to show the letter to her. Ryan wrote a letter to Boo demanding she work things out with him or he'd file for divorce. Meantime, Victoria decided Ryan needed a new roommate. Ryan filed for legal separation from Tricia who returned from London and found Victoria in her home! Boo begged Ryan to work things out but he was so upset he turned down sex with her. Ryan assured Boo that he and Victoria were just friends and could tell something still wasn't right with his wife! Ryan threatened to move out of the apartment but changed his mind. As the year wrapped up, Ryan became concerned that his wife's therapy was not working.

Before leaving town, Megan Dennison pestered sister Boo about seeing a shrink and even offered to move back home so she could be alone with Ryan. Megan overheard Sharon Newman say, "I can't let her (Boo) get away with murder" and demanded Sharon tell why she would slander Boo. Megan whined to Nina about Sharon's accusations and later told her daddy that Tony Viscardi, "Wasn't from our world." Megan asked Boo, "How could you be such a bitch?", brought Sharon up to speed regarding Tony’s death, demanded Ryan get her a job at Newman Enterprises and then left town for parts unknown.

OTHER CHARACTERS
Just a distance memory in 2000,
Grace Turner left New York long enough to fly into Genoa City just long enough to tell Megan about what Boo did [the bra scandal] then left.

Phyllis Summers Romalotti beamed into Genoa City and got a job working on the Glow by Jabot website. She had to ask Jack Abbott if he remembered her. Phyllis paid Michael Baldwin a visit and was mad as hell when she found out the Bug was working with him. She soon ran into the Bug and the two exchanged a few words! Phyllis was introduced to the Glow teens and exchanged insults with Jill Abbott. Hungry for sex, she hit on Jack and Michael and then became involved in the teen story!

Phyllis wanted to know what Mackenzie Browning was hiding and told Baldwin to dump the Bug. She was interested to hear Brittany Hodges say, "When I hurt, others will hurt too!" and agreed to help Hodges plot revenge. Phyllis had breakfast with Victoria Newman whom Phyllis claimed was a total stranger. Victoria offered Phyllis a job at Rash & Sassy. Phyllis demanded and got an ‘iron clad’ contract.

Phyllis also wanted to create a web site for Brad and Ashley Carlton but the idea was shunned. Who would look at it? Phyllis begged to an invitation to the Abbott/Carlton wedding and got her wish when Jack took her. After telling Baldwin he shouldn’t be sexually attracted to the Bug she told him to bang the Bug if he got the chance. Phyllis stumbled upon what she thought was interesting information about Victoria but the point – if there was one - never became clear. As the year ended, Jack was trying to use Phyllis and she was trying to use Jack. The motive on either side wasn’t clear as the year ended.

The only significant thing Gina Roma did all year was to inform Phyllis Summers that Danny Romalotti and her son were doing fine in Europe but refused to give Phyllis an address. How Danny was able to take their son out of the country was never explained. Danny did have full custody but Phyllis had visitation rights.

Larry ‘Wartman' Warton returned to Genoa City after being paroled from prison. He was determined to get a law suit against the Newmans claiming he was under illegal surveillance. Fearing legal action from Michael Baldwin, the Bug and detective Clueless called off the surveillance. Nick Newman was shocked. "What's wrong with justice in this society?" Newman asked.

The Wartman was arrested after Ross Leigh, an outside consultant working for Victoria Newman, filed assault charges with the police. The DA informed detective Clueless there was evidence to arraign Wartman. At first, the Wartman's parole was revoked but reinstated when charges against him were dropped. The Wartman lurked around Genoa City for awhile and then took a new job in Milwaukee. It was all part of Matt Clark’s plan to get even with Nick Newman.

Ross Leigh was caught going through the Wartman's locker at work and got socked in the gut by the Wartman. Leigh vowed that the Wartman would go back to prison. Leigh pawed through Victoria's desk after she offered the Wartman $500 per week to stop stalking her. When Leigh was arrested for stalking detective Clueless got a search warrant for his apartment.

The real stalker, Gary Dawson remained on the loose. Hearing evil voices in his head, Dawson had dinner at the Newman ranch with Victoria where the two shared a kiss!

A bail reduction for Leigh was denied but Leigh made bail anyway. The stalker was finally revealed as Gary Dawson! Nick Newman and detective Clueless came to Victoria's rescue and the case ended.

When Matt Clark arrived in Genoa City with a new face he wasted no time hooking up with the Wartman. Clark ready to make things happen to 'rich boy' Newman. Clark needed to get closer to the Newmans and was fortunate to get a job at Nick and Sharon’s coffee shop as Carter Mills. On his first day, Sharon felt a cold chill. Mills soon got a lead on the drug, Ecstasy and became hot for Tricia McNeil. He also met BoreUs Collins then worried she might remember who is really is. She didn’t..

One day Clark suggested Mrs. McNeil move in with him and let the Wartman know he was planning a date rape. Through an act of sheer stupidity on Sharon’s part, Clark got his hands Nick’s ARM card PIN number.

It was revealed that Clark’s plan was to set Nick up for drug bust. He needed Ryan McNeil's laptop to help make it happen. Meantime, Nick was questioning Clark’s job application because he wanted to make Mills the new coffee shop manager. Clark made an emergency phone call to the Wartman who easily hoodwinked Newman with phony job verifications. With the help of Mrs. McNeil, Clark got Ryan's laptop and entered a false cash transaction in Nick’s name.

Other than trying to be a good granny to Mackenzie Browning, Katherine Sterling didn’t do much in 2000. She did offer Nikki Newman job at Chancellor Industries as an interior decorator but Nikki turned her down. At Nikki's urging, Katherine turned down Jack Abbott's request for a loan. Katherine was convinced Billy Abbott was not the boy for Mac. And feared Jill Abbott would make Mac's life a living hell. She suspected there was something going on between Jill and Mac and when she found out it had to do with Mac’s mother had Amanda Browning placed under surveillance. To throw Jill off track, Katherine threatened to tell the world that Billy is not Jill's biological son which wasn’t true! During an argument, Katherine shoved Jill into a bowl of fruit! Katherine also bought a fancy computer but at first the damn thing didn’t work.

Brock Reynolds was a total waste in 2000. He was happy his daughter Mackenzie had called him "dad" for first time, took a job at the homeless shelter as a handyman and was rarely seen.

THE TEENS
The teenagers in Genoa City all returned to the same school (Walnut Grove Academy) during the last week of September.

When Billy Abbott told Mackenzie Reynolds to stay away from him Mac consulted local dear Abby, Sharon Newman. Mac was certain Abbott and Brittany Hodges would have sex if they went to Aspen on a ski trip but John Abbott pulled the plug on the trip. Billy was later found passed out in the snow after overdosing on alcohol at a beer party! At first it was thought he might have suffered brain damage but the family prayed and their prayers were answered. Released from the hospital, Billy shared a kiss with Mac. Back home, Billy was read a weak riot act by his parents. To make amends, Billy volunteered at a local homeless shelter.

As the year progress, Billy was crowned King at the school prom and shared another kiss with Mac and their true feelings for each other were made known. Billy’s best friend, Raul, whose last name Billy doesn’t know, revealed he too had feelings for Mac. Mac whined to Billy that Jill Abbott was trying to bring her mother into the picture and she couldn’t let that happen. The happy couple shared a candlelight picnic and agreed to run away if the going got rough.

Billy gave Mac an opal ring but was stunned when Mac told him she knew what he did. For weeks Billy was confused. Did he really have sex with Brittany Hodges? Billy was so tripped out he had to ask his brother, Jack, if a man can have sex and not remember. Billy confronted Brittany and later pleaded with Mac to forgive him. She didn’t.

Billy broke up a fight between Katherine Sterling and his mother and warned Jill to stop badgering Mac or he'd never speak to her again. Jill said she knew how hard teenaged love can be which caused Billy to break down in her arms.

Mac Browning saw Brittany and Billy kissing and would later see more. She was surprised to learn her grandmother knew Lauren Fenmore and was crowned prom queen thanks to a special dress Fenmore flew in from Paris. Mac got her hands a letter meant for Jill from a private detective Jill had hired to find out information on Mac’s mother. Mac was going to go on the run again but Billy found her stuffed backpack and talked her out of it. Mac explained that if Jill were to drag her mother into town her evil step-dad wouldn't be far away. Mac made a pact with Billy to meet secretly at the old playhouse.

It was at this time the Glow by Jabot web site came into being. Mac was asked and refused to be one of the Jabot Glow girls. She met with Billy at the playhouse and agreed to work behind the camera on the ad campaign. Leading Raul on all this time, Mac broke it off which caused a rift between Raul and Billy.

Mac told Jill her mother cannot know where she is and later flipped when she realized her mother might be surfing the Internet and would see a video of her on the Glow site. Mac broke down in tears when she concluded Jill would never let her be with the man she loves. Mac told Billy she was ready to run and under pressure told Billy to break it off with Brittany. Then, Mac told Katherine that she and Billy were in love but she wasn’t ready for sex. Mac’s grandmother mentioned she would seek custody of Mac but nothing came of it.

Mac became ill when she sees Brittany and Billy in what appeared to be a compromising position. Brittany had drugged Billy and made it appear as if the two were having sex! Mac cried on her granny's shoulder again how she hated Billy and then began giving Billy the cold shoulder.

As the year wound down, Mac told Billy she saw him with Brittany. She was so upset she wanted to die but returned to her job waiting tables at Newman Rocks and began to whine she doesn't have many friends.

Seeking advice again from Sharon Newman, Mac returned the opal ring to Billy and began to worry again her mother might see her on the web site as the New Year’s Eve party contest was being held ‘live’. When the Glow Webmaster quit at the last moment, Jack Abbott placed Mac in charge. Four winners of the contest were selected and moments later all arrived at the same time in Genoa City.

Brittany Hodges wanted Billy bad. She tempted him with a bottle of booze and later told Jill she would make sure Billy stays away from booze. Brittany was also certain Billy would become the Prom King and she the Queen but was becoming suspicious of Billy and Mac. To make things clear, Brittany told Billy she loves him. When Billy didn’t respond Brittany sought revenge ideas from the master, Phyllis Summers!

J.T. threatened to tell Billy that Brittany had sex with him and Brittany threatened Mac again then threatened Phyllis. Invited to the Abbott/Carlton wedding as Billy’s date, Brittany smacked J.T. for trashing her then instructed Mac to stay away from Billy. As the year wound down, Billy was spending most of his time with Brittany but continued having thoughts of Mac. Brittany was ready to do some serious humping with Billy until she discovered her man was thinking about another babe. She turned down the sex and told Billy he would have to prove himself first.

Raul Guittierez needed to know. Was Billy having sex? Seeing Mack’s packed knapsack, Raul asked Katherine Sterling if her granddaughter was going away for the summer. He was pleased to hear the items in Mac's backpack were donations to the local shelter. Determined to make Mac his he began hitting hard on her! Unfortunately, Mac told him they can only be friends but Raul vowed not to give up. Raul came right out and told Mack he was in love with her but later kicked her to the curb when she wouldn’t stop seeing Billy.

Rianna Miner meantime had dumped JT and the teens enjoyed Memorial Day at the Abbott pool.

J.T. Hellstrom offered Brittany booze to make the pain go away and the two ended up having sex! J.T. threatened to tell Billy and showed Brittany a video tape of Mac and Billy kissing! J.T. advised Brittany to "move on" and told Jill Abbott everything.

In general for the teens, it was an uneventful year.

Notable:

June 2000

Brad Carlton and Ashley Abbott promised each other that they would "get through this" and would "be there for you."

The Glow Worms came up with a great idea. "We could have a web site. It wouldn't be as expensive as TV. A group of girls could live together and use Glow products."

While working at the homeless shelter as a plumber, Brock Reynolds told the shelter manger he didn't like the idea of Billy Abbott and his daughter, Mac Browning, tutoring homeless kids together.

Dru Winters was upset that her sister, Olivia, had to have "poison" put into her to kill bone marrow. "It's not fair. This is a person that has done nothing but good for people."

On her death bed, Dr. Winters told her sister's former husband, "I wish we'd had the opportunity to explore what we mean to each other. To see what might have been.

Soon to be Cassie Newman, the former orphan kid practiced writing her new name. Cassie Ann Newman. Asking her new granny "what should I call you? Nikki or Grandma Nikki," the kid told Nikki Newman, "You look too young to be a grandma."

-----

Jill and Jack Abbott and Brad Carlton agreed that Brittany Hodges would become a Glow Worm.

Jack Abbott told Michael Baldwin of his concern that Carlton's investment in Jabot and demand to have a seat on the board could cause problems with Victor Newman hitting them with a non-compete clause buried in Carlton's contract with Newman Enterprises. John Abbott didn't think Nikki Newman deserved a board seat considering her a security risk. Both Carlton and Mrs. Newman had put up money to save Jabot.

Nick and Sharon Newman were trying to work Cassie's adoption party into their busy schedule. Their second coffee shop was scheduled to open in Milwaukee in July. "When are we going to be a family?" the kid had begun chanting.

Ashley Abbott made Victor Newman promise not to take Brad to court over the non-compete clause. When the great man refused to put the concession in writing Ashley said she doesn't trust him. Newman was trying at the time to get rid of Jack Abbott but changed his mind because he loves Ashley and wouldn't want to hurt her. Getting even with Jack would "close the door to Ashley forever."

Nikki Newman accused Ashley of sneaking around with Victor. The two got into a serious argument with Newman charging Ashley with sleeping with the enemy and blasting her for having gotten pregnant "by some anonymous cruise ship gigolo."

Memorial Day 2000
Originally published on May 31, 2000

The last time there was a Memorial Day celebration in Genoa City was in 2000 when the Memorial Pool Party was held at the home of Mr. John 'Yawn' Abbott.

The only thing different about this Memorial Day pool party was that no strangers were snatched off the street to fill up space and this gathering was for teenagers only! Otherwise, like years in the past, the party was held at the Abbott pool.

Prior to the big shindig, Billy Abbott whipped out his wallet and gazed at a crinkled photograph of Mackenzie Browning. The wallet was quickly put away when Raul - who had no last name at the time - Guittierez arrived followed closely by Brittany Hodges. Concerned that the girl whose pants he hoped to get into had not arrived along with the other guests, Raul slipped off to call Mac.

Alone with young Abbott, Brittany took the opportunity to swap some of her spit with him and said there was more spit in reserve should he care to indulge.

On the telephone, Mac informed Raul she wasn't feeling well and didn't plan to attend the party but changed her mind when thoughts of Billy alone with Brittany swept through her mind.

As Billy fired up the grill, Mac arrived and almost instantly noticed that Brittany had not brought along the soda. The rich Abbott kitchen was bare so Brittany reached into Billy's pants and pulled out his wallet in preparation for a trip to the store.

"A man's wallet is his castle", Billy yelped, yanking his wallet away. Then, pulling out a twenty, he gave it to Brittany who returned in a flash with soda for all and everyone began to chew on the 14% fat burgers and nitrate filled hot dogs.

As the party moved into full swing, Billy told Mac how happy he was that she had come. Mac made it clear she did so that Raul wouldn't feel like a fifth wheel.

Watching from afar, Jack Abbott made his presence known, asked for a hot dog and if his brother needed any love advice.

"Don't start with me Jack", Billy snarled, as Jack gnawed away on a dog his cell phone rang. After a brief conversation with someone named Josh, Jack left the party.

At long last, the teen's bellies were full and the party wound down. As Mac and Raul left, Brittany went off to change. Alone, Billy pulled his wallet out again, took out the photo of Mac and started to squash it. But at the last moment shoved it into his pocket.

"I've got to get rid of this", Billy said to himself, as what went down in history as the most boring Memorial Day ever, came to an end.
