For Ashley Carlton to say she's never met Mary Williams is odd considering that Mary's daughter was once married to Ashley's brother.

In 1981, against Carl and Mary Williams wishes, teenager Patty Williams fell for Jack Abbott. She also had the hots for Danny Romalotti, who was more her age. When Patty found out that Jill Foster and Jack had been getting it on she wanted to forget Jack, but in 1982 became fully engaged with him. When Carl tried to intervene, a bitchy Jack married Patty who eventually saw what a slug Jack is and accused him of wanting her as his sex slave.

Behind Patty's back, Jack continued seeing Diane Jenkins and with her marriage in shambles, Patty freaked out, shot Jack and in 1983 divorced him and left town.

Surely, during that mess, Ashley must have met Mary at least once. Shouldn't she?
