A few days ago the GCN re-ran a Viewpoint article that told how Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) made demands on the powers that be at Y&R to get what he wanted for his character. So far, nothing wrong with that, right? When John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) came back from the dead, when Wilma Bardwell (Ted Shackelford) was brought back from the dead as Jeffrey Bardwell, it wasn't that bad, right?

So what if I told you that Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) may be coming back permanently? That would be bad, right?

It would be tragic because Ashley is a low-down, lying, cheating, back-stabbing sperm thief! She so feared brother Jack Abbott was going to kill her she fled to Hong Kong and from there to Los Angeles where she took up with yet another man. So why not keep there?

There are reports now that Peter Bergman (Jack) didn't like that Davidson got the axe and he's a throwing a fit that she be returned to Genoa City.

"It's so right on so many levels," Bergman says.

So right? So many levels? What the hell? Jack hasn't been screwed by this woman often enough? Ashley hasn't left a trail of dead babies and nobody knows from one day to the next who watches the baby she bore with stolen sperm?

And Phyllis Newman has the good sense to think she's a bad mother? There is none worse than Ashley. Gloria Bardwell is a better mom.

"Remember: These two lost their mother, so they were more than siblings, in terms of how they get through tough times," Bergman added.

Oh, boo freaking hoo. So they lost their mother. Kyle lost his father and that doesn't seem to bother Jack. And when hasn't there been a time when Jack and Ashley weren't going through tough times? Is it not enough that Jack has been whimpering for weeks over trying to hang onto slut Sharon? Do we want, or need, Ashley back sniveling over the loss of another dead baby, or another man who learns what an evil bitch she is?

"What a mistake it is to not have her [Ashley] there. You'll see it. When you watch the show, you'll think, that's right. This used to be a source of great drama and family bonding," Bergman spewed.

Great drama? Family bonding? Is Bergman smoking crack?

There hasn't been an iota of "drama" in Genoa City for years. Oh wait, there was some drama last year when Sheila Carter came back from the grave for the umpteenth time. Yeah baby, that drama was so bad the original Sheila didn't play the part and Phyllis had to play both parts with each of the characters looking like Phyllis. Damn, I forgot too there's a drama going on right now with Lily Winters doing all she can to get Cane Ashby into her pants. I know I'm sitting on the edge of my seat for that day to, can I say, come.

As for "family bonding", are we to believe that Noah Newman has a family? Does that explain why he goes out into blizzards on New Year's Eve? Is Noah's family so bonded he's had anything resembling a normal childhood? What, exactly, are the family values in this city?

Here's my message for Mr. Bergman. If you must espouse family anything, ask what family anywhere in the real world would bond with its historically criminal black sheep? Even in the world of fantasy there comes a point where the godfather orders a hit on the troublesome child. Before you yap about drama, Mr. Bergman, you need one ingredient. You need for there to be a reason for dramatics. A reason for anyone to care that anyone might be harmed or die, let's say, under a freaking collapsed parking structure! The entire lot of those trapped in Clear Springs could have died, and you know what Mr. Bergman? We wouldn't have given a shit! I suspect we would have rejoiced at the thought of so many new characters we might get to know and care about. Characters with, um, character and parents unlike J.T. Hellstrom's who have not once seen their new grandson.

You want bonding, Mr. Bergman? You want family? Drama? Before you can have any one of those you must have the one thing you haven't had in the 24 years I shamelessly say I've been following this nightmare you call a soap.

Ready for it Mr. Bergman? Ready to jack your jaws? Continuity!
