To Anthony Morina, Josh Griffith and John Fisher,

First of all, gentlemen, thank God you're here. It's no secret that Y&R fans pretty much unilaterally despised Lynn Marie Latham and the direction in which she had taken the show. There was much rejoicing when her name stopped appearing in the credits. I for one have been very pleased with recent episodes and already see an improvement in quality, so thank you for that.

Based upon the views of my fellow Genoa City correspondents and also the fans over on Television Without Pity, I humbly submit the following Wish List for the new year. I don't flatter myself to assume any of you read our little website, but then again, I'm not cynical enough to assume you don't. Perhaps you have an intern checking in to see what we have to say. I did notice that suddenly the women are wearing turtlenecks and sweaters instead of ridiculous freaking halter tops, so maybe you really do listen to us.

First of all, remember that the show is about characters first and plots second. I've been liking the quieter scenes with extended dialog lately, in which the actors connect and let us feel them as characters instead of merely existing as plot proppers. Not that the stories should develop at the glacial pace they used to in the old days, but how can we get invested in any storylines when things move at the speed of a coked-up squirrel? La Latham was particularly egregious about that stuff. I swear to God she has ADD.

Second of all, in case you didn't know this, the viewers loathe Brad, and not in the fun "love to hate him" way either. He was way beyond overexposed in 2007. Please make him less prominent in storylines, as we do not enjoy watching his smug Botoxed mug. There are many fine actors on the show and Don Diamont is not one of them.

Thirdly, please, please pay attention to continuity. It is insulting to the viewers when the writers pretend things didn't happen that did, and rewrite history. This bullshit with Sharon is an excellent example. That woman's past is spottier than a teenaged drive-through jockey's face. Yet no one suggests that perhaps she ought not to act as if she didn't have affairs, abandon her family, kill a man, etc. I'm not saying you need to dredge up the past left and right, but a nod here and there would be appreciated, as well as keeping track of basic facts about characters. Hi! Daniel has NEVER been allergic to gluten. That was just stupid.

Dovetailing on the continuity complaint, it's okay to let major characters get what's coming to them once in a while. If that never happens, we lose faith in the show and don't give a shit, because we know that so-and-so always gets away with everything. There's no reason to invest ourselves if we know the outcome will always be the same.

Finally, I will love you forever if you manage to follow through on storylines and not drop them like so many hot potatoes. Latham may have had the attention span of a fruit fly, but we the viewers pay attention, and it's incredibly annoying to have a big story develop and then POOF! It's never resolved.

I mean all of this very sincerely and I hope you are able to save Y&R from the crapfest it has been under the Latham regime. I wish you the best of luck, and know that we all are rooting for you.
