There's a little riddle for GCNews readers. What
does a Jimmy Buffett song and the character of "Scarlett
O'Hara" have to do with Y&R? First of all, the
following lyrics to Fruitcakes, "There's a
little bit of fruitcake left in every one of us,"
applies to Ashley and her current mental state. The
fictional procrastinator "Scarlett O'Hara" has
something in common with the Great Victor Newman,
both characters can't get over their obsessions with
Ashley.
The clueless scribes are repeating a storyline from
the younger days of the show, only this time Ms
Abbott-Carlton-Newman, etc., had a baby that didn't
involve her giving birth. Not to sound too catty,
but isn't Ashley a little long-in-the-tooth to
produce infants? This is stretching reality a
little. Of course, on the sibling Bell Productions
show "The Bold and The Beautiful" Sally Spectra
produced Clark Junior when she was well beyond hot
flashes.
Now Victor's latest in his chain of ex-wives seems
to waver between being psychotic or bitchy. Lovely
personality, don't you agree? One astute GCN fan,
MyButler, made the following observation about Ass-ley:
"Ashley is a psycho bitch from hell who needs to get
a grip. First, she stole Victor's sperm to get
pregnant with Abby, has no clue that she lost baby
number two and now she wants to run him (Victor) off
his property and they've only been married for ten
minutes. Bitch, please! If Nikki didn't get the
ranch, what makes her crazy ass feel like she's
entitled to it? In the real world, she would only
get child support."
Another person visiting the Bulletin Board made a
good point. He or she stated that although Ashley
still wants a connection to Victor, she should "get
as much money as she could from the old goat." This
connection has been a long-running obsession with
both Victor and Ashley. The elder Mr. Newman must
not be too upset about losing his object of
affection, desire or obsession since he seems to
want his darling Nikki back for the umpteenth time.
Of course, the real 'fruitcakes' are the people who
keep dredging up the past, hoping to create drama
from a worn-out love triangle that has nearly
collapsed. Mr. Buffett's composition describes both
the writers and a few characters on this program,
they're "half-baked cookies that the great cosmic
baker took out of the oven a little too early." |
