Is amnesia contagious? Could it have been passed on
from Katherine, through poor hospital practices, to
the rest of Genoa City? Because it seems like it's
become a widespread epidemic in this town lately.
Take Victoria for example. Why is she so outraged by
the suggestion that her father might have done
something wrong? How hard did those crates hit her
on the head anyway? It wasn't so very long ago that
Victoria decided to move to Italy precisely because
her father had done something not only underhanded,
but illegal. In fact he was convicted of mail fraud
and product tampering in an effort to insure the
successful launch of a product line that Victoria
was supposed to be in charge of. She was so
devastated by his utter lack of faith in her
abilities that she not only left town, but when she
came back, she was an entirely different person.
Maybe that's why she doesn't remember. Either that
or she's got one hell of a selective memory.
By the same token she's got quite a case of
selective hearing too. When she was in Deacon's
hotel room how did she fail to hear the shrieks and
cries of Amber in the very next room? Amber's got
one of those voices that can hit octaves sending
dogs howling for miles around. People in China can
hear Amber when she really gets going but to
Victoria it's like one of those whistles only dogs
can hear. And what the hell was Victoria doing in
Deacon's room anyway? Like father like daughter, the
slightest thing goes wrong with her marriage and
Victoria's ready to trade her latest spouse in for
the next model on the showroom floor. I guess she
doesn't remember how well that's worked out for her
in the past with Ryan, Cole and Brad. Pretty soon
she's going to run out of men.
I love how Victor can call Victoria and tell her to
meet him "at the restaurant" and she automatically
knows where to go. We all know everyone eats
breakfast, lunch and dinner at the club, but c'mon.
Surely there are other restaurants in town. I seem
to recall a little place called the Colonnade Room.
And Crimson Lights serves food too, sometimes.
Wasn't there an outdoor place called Yves? What
about Marge's Diner? Now it's just "The Restaurant"
and it's like "Oh, yeah, that one." Put all the
other places out of business I guess. What a crappy
town.
Amnesia also struck the Winters household this week.
Neil and Devon were doing their own pearl clutching
at the thought of Lily going back to her husband, as
though the smelling salts were going to have to be
called for at any moment. As the two Winters men
stood there with their shared case of the vapors
boggling at the very idea of Lily reuniting with a
man who had "lied to" and "hurt her," the woman who
both father and son had cheated with on their
previous significant others was on her way upstairs
to say her (hopefully) final goodbyes. I guess if
anyone knows about lying and hurting it's Neil and
Devon but Cane is still an amateur compared to the
two of them. He never cheated on Lily, his greatest
crime thus far has been extreme stupidity.
Meanwhile poor Humphrey the dog was locked up in the
car downstairs when all of this was going on. If
Lily is so obsessed with having babies I shudder to
think what their fates might be when she doesn't
even know how to take care of a dog. Humphrey should
have been the last thing they packed up in the car,
not the first. For one thing it's August and the car
was probably parked outside seeing as how Neil lives
in a tiny little apartment, despite being a
corporate executive for two of the largest companies
in town. For another thing there's a crazed dog
killer running loose around town. Doesn't anyone
know that? Is Victor so self absorbed he couldn't be
bothered to let the neighbors know they might want
to keep an eye on their dogs? Never mind, I guess
that was a rhetorical question.
You'd think with an aunt who's a world famous
medical specialist in every area of medicine known
to modern man that Lily would have gone to her
instead of relying on Internet chat rooms for
information on chemotherapy, but then again this is
Lily we're talking about after all. Not that it
matters much, I imagine her hair will grow back as
quickly as Ashley's did. In the meantime she can be
the next cover-girl on Restless Style magazine when
they do their issue on supermodels who are bald and
live in Genoa City. That's about the only local
topic they've yet to cover so they're about due.
