What kind of mental health facility lets visitors
meander the halls and show up unannounced at
patients' doors? Do you mean to tell me that anyone
could just walk right into that place and see anyone
they want? Not only that, they can go through the
sign-in sheets to see who else has visited recently?
The Snake Pit was a more effective treatment center
than this place. No wonder everyone in Genoa City is
so crazy if this is the best care they have
available to them.
One the one hand, Nick was right to be concerned
that Sharon wasn't well protected in that place
against Mary Jane. On the other hand it was
ridiculous to fear that Mary Jane might try to
"break in." Break in? Who needs to break in when the
front door is wide open and the welcome sign is
turned on? Mary Jane could probably show up and say
"I'm here to kill Sharon Abbott" and all the
receptionist would say is "Would you like to sign in
first? You can go through the list and see who else
has been here if you want." Nick himself ran into
the place demanding to see doctors without bothering
to sign in, shouldn't that have been his first clue
about the easy access to the place?
I thought Sharon was supposed to be under
observation but the only people that have seen her
so far are her friends, relatives and enemies.
Apparently she's supposed to be involved in some
kind of group therapy but she's still insisting
there's nothing wrong with her. Seems to me she
needs to become a permanent resident. Either that or
the hospital needs to hire Doris. Seems like she's
the only one who can call Sharon out on her crap.
Her and Phyllis, anyway. Maybe the two of them could
tag team her. Phyllis can call her a slut and Doris
can call her an idiot. They'd be doing my job for
me, anyway.
I guess the court-appointed psychiatrist who
examined Ashley must work for that place given her
utter lack of skills in her alleged profession. She
spent all of three minutes with the crazy lady and
came away thinking she was only mildly depressed.
With misdiagnoses like that it's no wonder they just
leave the doors wide open at the nut house, they
don't even realize how crazy people are. And they
don't even treat them when they are committed, they
just leave them to their own devices to receive
uninvited and unwelcome guests and spend the rest of
their time reading. How is that supposed to cure
someone of kleptomania? I bet all of those books
Sharon's been reading are going to wind up under her
mattress.
Mary Jane looks to be the next resident of the local
funny farm and she might as well take her brother
with her when she goes. On what planet can you have
sanctuary from the law just because you're in a
church? What year is this, 1695? Sanctuary, really?
Do they think they're on Logan's Run? And how in the
hell did Chance go from being a military grunt to
the town's lead detective on his first day? I mean
we all know the Genoa City police force is lacking
in credibility but this is ridiculous. It's the
kid's second day on the job and he's already in
charge of the biggest case in town. Maybe next week
he'll be mayor.
