Why is the SEC suddenly so concerned about Victor's
medical status? For that matter, why are the
stockholders? Where were they all the times Victor
has just up and disappeared without explanation,
when nobody knew where he was, or if and when he was
ever coming back, let alone whether he was alive or
dead? All those times he was on some farm in Kansas,
or in some monastery in France, or in a cabin in the
desert, we never heard about any stockholders
complaining to the SEC. Those would have been the
times, I should think, that investors would have
reason to be concerned. Not now, when Victor's
whereabouts are known to all, regardless of whether
or not every little detail of his medical condition
has been properly documented to the stockholder's
satisfaction. Were Victoria and Nicholas expected to
report to them if Victor had a boil on his ass?
Should the SEC have been contacted if they had
failed to do so?
Mac thinks Billy is going to do "hard hitting
exposes" with Restless Style? Seriously? A magazine
that does stories about the Newmans, Abbotts and
Chancellors on a monthly basis? Does the world at
large care so much about these three Genoa City
families that this rag manages to stay in business?
I don't care how rich or famous these people are
supposed to be. There is barely a readership out
there anymore for anything in print. In a world
where Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan sell more
magazines than anyone else, I don't see how a
magazine that devotes itself to the celebrity
equivalents of Warren Buffett, Leona Helmsley and
the Estee Lauder family manages to stay on the
newsstands.
I guess Billy is about as qualified to run this
magazine as its founders, at any rate. From what
I've been able to gather, and despite evidence to
the contrary, this publication is supposed to be
about style. It was created by Jack Abbott, a man
who has never met a three piece suit he didn't like;
Sharon Abbott, a woman who hasn't yet conquered
flyaway split ends; Nick Newman, a greasy
neanderthal who doesn't even understand basic
grooming; and Phyllis Newman, a woman who dresses
like she needs air vents all over her body to
survive.
It was therefore a real gut buster to hear Nicholas
accuse Billy of being someone who has shirked
responsibility his entire life. Talk about your pot
calling the kettle black. Nicholas has never put in
an honest days' work in all the years I've known
him. Every time he has a fight with his father he
quits his job at Newman Enterprises. And even when
he does work there he spends the bulk of his time
elsewhere. He created Restless Style to do something
on his own but when he made amends with his father
he promptly abandoned the venture to go back to
Newman Enterprises. Probably because he never has to
do any work at Newman Enterprises compared to the
work he had to do at Restless Style.
